where residents are filling up sandbags. let's first begin with kron 4's chief meteorologist, jacqueline bennett. jacqueline, how much rain will we see over the next few days? >>jacqueline bennett: we will see several inches of rain in the next little bit and it will come within of frame of 12 hours. you can see clouds increasing and as you look offshore the storm becomes well defined and will be a big one. a flood watch has been issued for much of the bay area almost the entire bay area. we will see anywhere from 3 to 8 in. of rain around the bay area. the heavy stuff come in during the morning commute and will move south through the morning hours. >>pam moore:heavy rain usually equals trouble on san francisco's telegraph hill. mud and rock slides have been a common problem over the years. crews have been working along this hillside for the past week. drilling huge metal rods and plates to support it. they are trying to prevent any damage that could be caused by the upcoming storm. >>: we're trying to prepare for the storm,

today, crews delivered more sandbags. some businesses just kept stacking them up.s an area where businesses and residents are worried about because, of course, the storm. let's take you to the presidio. those trees most vulnerable were being cut down. crews were also removing any vegetation that could make its way to the catch basins. speaking of, yesterday and today, the san francisco p.u.c. had the big vacuum trucks with those big hoses sucking debris out of the storm drains. it's amazing what comes out of there. now, also, at this hour the department of public works is still encouraging people to do their part. >> the big thing they can do is sweep debris, litter, leaves off the sidewalk, out of the storm drains if you see it, use your simple broom and rake and you can help us get the job done. >> reporter: that's exactly what this restaurant worker was doing this afternoon, cleaning the sidewalk and picking the leaves up. this way it doesn't end up clogging the drains. now, crews from the department of public works will be on 12-hour shifts beginning tomorrow.
