sandhya. some roads are flooded in the north bay, causing closures and dangerous conditions for certain low lying roads. detours are in place. last november, a driver lost his life after driving through flooded maze canyon road in guerneville, the second such drowning fatality in two years. >> we are always encouraging folks to, if they see the road closed, road flooded signs and the red or yellow tape across the roads to, you know, turn around and not drown. >> road workers work to fill potholes ahead of the storm. p-g-and-e's has extra crews busy trimming tree limbs around the power lines and pre-staging equipment like wires and transformers in case they are needed. >> it's become a bit of a cliche. as we say, we need the rain and we need the snow in the sierra. but as we learned today, it's not looking good in the high country. state water resource officials conducted their second measurement of 2025, returning to phillips station at echo summit, where the snow was falling hard for a time.

thank you, sandhya. and take a look at this video out of forestville. that is a home floating down the russian river after it got taken out by a landslide. look at this. the sonoma county fire district says the home was a rental property and no one, thankfully, was inside at the time. this happened off west side road around 1230 this afternoon. several homes in the area have been evacuated as a precaution. >> i've never seen anything like this before and i've lived here since 2015. i'm very shocked that there was a house on it that's now in the river, but at the same time not too surprised because it's really steep and wet around here and there is erosion happening. >> and crews did search the river and the debris just to make sure that no one was trapped. >> highway 101 in windsor is back open tonight. it closed at arata lane earlier today because of major flooding. you can see in the roadway there. the water was so high at one point. look at this. caltrans crews spotted waist deep in the water. you can see him there on the left hand side of your scree

sandhya. in the north bay, the storm damage is adding up. flood water is still an issue. and take a look at this. a large landslide damaged a multi-million dollar home. this is on deer trail road in santa rosa. the homeowners say they lost their home in the tubbs fire in 2017 and rebuilt it, just to lose it again in this landslide. almost the entire first floor is filled with mud. fortunately, at least no one was injured. >> in the east bay, richmond police shot and killed someone last night and it appears the person was not armed. the california department of justice says it will now conduct an independent investigation, which is required by state law. in these cases. the shooting happened just before 9 p.m. on the union pacific railroad. police were trying to arrest someone accused of domestic violence and a probation violation. they say the person refused to surrender, and there was a brief standoff before police opened fire. authorities have not yet said why the person was shot or how many officers were involved. >> san francisco is launching a new plan to deal with t

sandhya, thanks so much. our series of storms is really slamming the north bay with flood waters, claiming at least two lives in sonoma county. two bodies were recovered in the last day. first responders say an 83 year old man died while riding his bike through flooding on sanford road outside sebastopol. his body was recovered this morning. a second man was found dead last night in a culvert on franz valley road in knights valley. a flood watch is in effect for the north bay through tomorrow afternoon. a dramatic rescue in marin. look at this. a woman was pulled from her car that was sinking into a flooded creek. the driver lost control of the vehicle, sending her off the side of the road just outside of point reyes on platform bridge road tuesday. this deputy was able to bust open the rear windshield and pull the woman out through that small opening. the sheriff's office says two more vehicles got stuck after bypassing road closure signs on the same day, so don't bypass those road closure signs. many areas
