sandhya patel joins us with a look at when the cool down is going to come. >> the cooling reached the coast and the bay. the highs so far we have one record for today. tied the old record set at 1993. pretty hot in antioch. 106. 104 in livermore. 102 in concord. 98 in santa rosa. 77 in oakland. 72 san francisco. 91 in san jose. what is great is that some people are getting relief and it's because as you take a look at live doppler 7 hd we do have fog that has closed in along the coast and it will advance further bringing cooler weather to other parts of the bay area starting tomorrow. i will be back with a detailed look in the seven day forecast coming up. >>> firefighting efforts got tougher when a fleet of tanker planes was grounded. cal fire provided this video showing one of the aircraft, a propeller failed while a plane was on the ground in southern california. that prompted officials to order safety checks of the 15 planes like it in cal fire's fleet. those planes are equipped to dump flame retardant. >>> citizen soldiers and air men played a role. the pentagon revealed that mor

let's turn to sandhya patel with more information. >> it is going to take years to erase this drought. we are in the fourth year of the drought. let me show you what is going on here. we are talking about two different things. we have been noticing and watching the warm blob and keeping an eye on el nino. this is the latest from the climate prediction center today. a strong event is expected between late fall and early winter. and there is an 85% chance of it lasting into spring. when you take a look at the statistics it is very disturbing. missing rainfall for the state of california. bay area about a year to a year and a half. southern california two plus years. for bay area rainfall for just an annual rainfall total we are talking over 20 inches is what we would need. in san francisco oakland more than 35 inches in santa rosa and almost 15 inches of rain in san jose for one year. keep in mind we are one to 1 1/2 years behind so we need several years of rain, heavy rainfall to make up for the deficit. >> thanks very much. >>> a tragic accident this afternoon killed a woman after an

sandhya patel has the answer for that. >> tonight a bit dicy. not only low clouds but behind me watching the other clouds come in and adding humidity in some parts of the bay area. let me show you live doppler 7 hd right now. we'll take a look at what's going on now and what happened several hours ago. so, those clouds are showing up on live doppler 7 hd. and we also had a few light showers down in the south bay. this was earlier this afternoon. those light showers didn't amount to a whole lot. san jose reported a trace. the dew points yeah when they're between 60 and 69 degrees, it is humid. palo alto mid-60s and half moon bay a 60 degree dew point. if it feels sticky to you, there is a reason for it. temperatures are down compared to 24 hours ago. 2 to 11 degrees cooler compared to half moon bay. just absolutely gorgeous from our south beach camera. this will make for a lovely sunset tonight, if you get a chance to see it and there aren't enough. there aren't too many low clouds. 63 in san francisco and 70 in oakland and 76 san jose. currently

let's check in with sandhya patel for weather conditions around the fire. always critical. >> absolutely. wind is a big factor as you take a look at the current conditions near the fire it is breezy. gusts nonexistent but steady wind out of the west northwest to 16 miles per hour. it's hot. 82 degrees and relative humidity coming up. it is 41%. with the west wind this is moving some of the smoke towards the tracy area but also out towards some areas where there aren't many people living which is a good factor there as you take a look at the winds here pretty gusty around fairfield and livermore right now wind at 16 miles per hour. patterson pass tends to be windy spots so that wind is not going to ease up anytime soon. that will make it tough for the firefighters. >> thanks very much. now to our other big story. serious allegations against uber tonight. san francisco district attorney says rapists, kidnappers and killers are driving people to their destinations. >> it is frightening to think about who you are trusting behind the wheel. abc 7 news reporter v
