meteorologist sandhya patel is here with more on that. sandhya? >> yeah, kristen, the weather is going to turn interesting this week. let's check out live doppler 7 right now. we have some clouds. we don't have any rain yet, but we are tracking a parade of storms across the pacific. some of these stretching all the way past about 4,000 miles plus. so let's take a look at our rain chance. this is what we expect to see in the winter, or in early spring. but this is may. and look at this. we have level 1 systems wednesday through sunday. when you take a look at the rainfall estimates over the next seven day, parts of northern and central california estimated to receive anywhere between 2 to 4 inches of rain, which is well past the average for the entire month for the bay area. the averages are usually about a third of an inch to just over an inch, and we'll be well past that, if this rainfall materializes. i certainly know one thing. you're going to need the umbrellas this week. so make sure you start looking for them right now. i'll be back with a c

sandhya patel has the weekend winter in this spring, at least not in may.e thought we would change it up. let me show you this from our east bay hills camera, 8:02 the sun was setting. noticing the fog was starting to redevelop, roll back in. as the night went on, isn't that beautiful? the marine layer continued to deepen. tonight it has deepened to about 1600 feet. so it is going to continue to progress towards the bay. as we head into the overnight hours. you'll notice that there's a push already into the north bay. along the coast, it is socked in. so tracking the system off the coastline that is just spinning. it has been spinning there for a pugh days but it is going to approach the coastline. as it does on sunday, we're going to start to bring in the possibility of some rain. so let's check out our rain chances. it's not just sunday that we're looking at the potential for rain. 35% chance sunday. monday a 30% chance and look towards thursday and friday. yeah, you might be needing those umbrellas a few times over next seven days. mod idendy. temperatur

meteorologist sandhya patel. >> why not? it is going to be nice this week. it's finally starting to feel like spring. take a look at live doppler 7. we have the fog, typical for this time of the year, hugging the coastline. 24-hour temperature change. up 12 degrees in livermore. warmer in san jose. 7 degrees warmer. 3 degrees warmer in santa rosa. east bay hills, a combination of high clouds and fog. 58 in the city. 66 in oakland. san jose 70 degrees. really nice weather in santa cruz. people are out enjoying the sunshine, the blue skies, and those temperatures from 68 in napa to 82 in vacaville. it is 80 in concord. so if you're thinking about stepping outside, taking the dog for a walk, you really couldn't ask for better weather. around the bay, temperatures in the comfort zone. a combination of fog and sunshine. 71 around the bay at 6:00. towards the evening hours you will notice those temperatures will be dropping down to the upper 50s. i think you can uncover your patio furniture, at least for the next seven days. we are expecting a break from the rain.
