so for more on that let's get to abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel. sandhya. >> yeah ama the concern is still there that we are going to be facing extreme fire risk in southern california going into tomorrow. let me show you why. so the winds not nearly as strong as they were expected, but it was gusty. and it still is camp 949 miles an hour. red flag warnings are going until tomorrow night. it becomes a particularly dangerous situation. red flag warning tomorrow from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. that's when the strongest winds are expected. it's a combination of northeast to east, 40 to 70 mile an hour gusts, relative humidity down to the single digits in some areas. i mean, we're talking 8 to 15% combined with critically dry fuels. and that extreme fire risk is there shaded in the pink. we go hour by hour. those winds this evening 31 malibu hills, acton 36 going into 8 p.m. close to 40 miles an hour. and as we head into the late night hours, still gusty tomorrow morning. simi valley, almost 40 miles an hour, topping that at length by 1:00 in the afternoon. and t

for more on the conditions in the sierra, let's get to abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel. a heavy snow falling there, sandhya. >> yeah, it has been heavy, no doubt about it. and, julian, as you mentioned, the chains are required. let me show you a live picture from our zephyr cove camera, where the snow was just piling up earlier in the day. right now it has lightened up, but you will notice that there is snow on the ground. visibility is low. chain controls are required at this hour, so definitely take the chains if you're going up. but if i were you, i would hold off as it is kind of hazardous to drive up there. looking at those thunderstorms up in northern california. main front has gone through the bay area, so things are quiet now, but we still have a couple more showers that are developing. we had a couple of lightning strikes between point arena area and around sea ranch, so definitely was a little bit unstable earlier. now 8:00 tonight, you see those spotty showers in the north bay into the san francisco east bay locations at 10 p.m. and then one last push of an iso

abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel is back with the very latest on this sandhya. >> yeah, it is still gusty in that area. and dan and ama, the winds are only going to increase down where the palisades fire is burning between ten tonight and tomorrow morning. so the situation is life threatening. let me show you our view from our sutro tower camera as we see a sparkling san francisco, but a shaky view of the city. take a look at the high temperatures today. record setting. santa rosa 72, today 69, in san rafael. both new records for the day. it was 68, in oakland, 70 in san jose, 66. san francisco got up to 68 degrees in napa and concord. those winds have been very gusty this morning. pine flat road near 80 miles an hour, i should say overnight. mount saint helena 76. we had gusty winds even at the lower elevations. looking at live doppler seven a lot of high clouds passing through the bay area. the wider perspective shows us why the windy setup. so we have this area of low pressure over the desert southwest. high pressure building in right behind it. the winds coming out of t

meteorologist sandhya patel is here. sandhya? >> yeah.and dan and ama, one of the big things with the wildfires down south is the air quality. so let's take a look at the wildfire smoke from the last visible satellite imagery available. and you can see that they're still dealing with a lot of smoky conditions. my sister in law actually has family down there. and while they're okay, she said it's pretty thick smoke there. air quality alert remains in effect until 5 p.m. tomorrow. here's a look at the current air quality. most areas are in the good to moderate range, but there are places near acton poor for sensitive groups, this is going to continue to fluctuate as those fires burn. fortunately, our conditions are mainly good here locally as we check out our high temperatures for today. the national weather service did have a typo earlier. if you were with us during the 5:00 show, i had reported santa rosa at 74. they made a correction. it was actually 64 degrees there. there was a record in san jose at 74 degrees today, breaking the previ

abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel is here with a look at that. >> j.r. they have had no winter in southern california and the drought will reflect that. with severe drought conditions in southern california. let's first talk about the fires. the kenneth fire is the newest fire that has broken out near calabasas. multiple wildfires, strong, gusty santa ana winds. the last couple of days have not helped the situation. while they're not as strong right now, the gusts in southern california have been between 65 and 74 miles an hour. i just looked at the latest numbers. right now you have 38 at camp. 935 malibu. as we go, hour by hour, those gusty offshore winds will continue well into the night and pick up at times going into tomorrow morning, we have gusty winds. you're looking at 37 simi valley. those downsloping winds go on into friday morning. and then friday afternoon a wind shift, onshore winds coming off the ocean, transporting higher humidity into the area, which should help the firefighters temporarily. red flag warnings until 6 p.m. tomorrow. moder

we want to get a look at the forecast now with meteorologist sandhya patel. again, sandhya, we're thinking about the winds that will be kicking up that are kicking up down there in southern california now. yeah. >> and unfortunately, it's not a good thing obviously. julian and kristen, another round of gusty offshore winds will develop later on tonight. i do want to show you the visible satellite picture. if you look carefully here you can see the smoke from the fires just blowing out over the ocean. clearly the thick smoke is impacting the air quality. it is an air quality alert until 1215 tomorrow as they are seeing some unhealthy air indicated by the reds there right around pasadena area in los angeles county. you can see the smoke forecast will show you that the smoke initially stays in that area, but then watch what happens as we head towards tomorrow afternoon. some of the smoke starts to move in the upper parts of the atmosphere towards the monterey bay, so there may be some times where it is hazy. as you look towards the southern part of our viewing a
