. >> sandra: david lee miller continuing his reporting live outside of mount sinai hospital in manhattannd he has the latest for us this morning. >> good morning, sandra. new york governor andrew cuomo sets the state is now on the other side of the pot to mike. he says hospital admissions are down and into patients are down in the state recorded lowest daily death rate in two weeks. even so out of the 507 new yorkers died from the virus. again, this is a case of less bad news. there are also signs the rate of the infection is slowing and nearby connecticut and new jersey. they have now finalized appointments in a regional council to focus on restarting the economy. new york state has started antibody testing to find out who had the disease. at 3,000 people will be randomly screened at grocery stores across the state. on the test involves taking a finger stick blood sample and the test will determine this percentage of people who will return to work. the governor says such testing is crucial to an economic recovery. >> any plan that will start to reopen the economy has to be based on data

lee. >> good morning, sandra.r andrew cuomo's visit with president trump has paid off for new yorkers. the governor said it, mr. trump will help the state increase the both the number of diagnostic as well as antibody test for the virus. despite frequently being at odds, cuomo described the off-camera face-to-face meeting as open, honest and very productive. the state will be able to test twice as many people but adds it's not going to happen overnight. >> our goal is to double the 20,000 to get the 40,000 tests per day. we need several weeks to ramp up to that but it's a very aggressive goal. >> cuomo says the crisis caused at least a $10 billion budget shortfall. the president said help for the state should arrive under the government's multitiered plan to help restart the economy. >> president trump: we mentioned briefly the state aid, we talked about that, governor cuomo and myself and i agreed with him on that and i think most republicans agreed it, too, and that democrats. that's part of phase four. >> durin

sandra: live fox team coverage for you with dr. nicole saphier on the medical angle. benjamin hall is overseas and david leeiller in hard-hit new york city with more. >> hi, sandra. here at the mt. sinai hospital on new york's east side, they are struggling like all hospitals in the city to cope with the increasing number of coronavirus patients. but here we are seeing something that we have not witnessed before. this facility is building what are called negative pressure rooms to contain the virus. vents are installed to create lower air pressure in patient rooms and corridors which reduces airflow and the spread of the virus. the airborne infection isolation rooms are being installed system-wide. new york city ambulance crews are told not to bring people suffering cardiac atroes a hospital if the patient's heart can't be restarted on the scene. it was issued to reduce stress on hospitals already overwhelmed. an emergency medicine doctor in the city describes the scene here as a dire situation. >> hospitals are running out of medication. some hospitals don't have protective gear for staff. or family member
