a young boy rescued from the waters off sandy point state park died this morning. crews were called to the park around-the-clock for a child missing in the water. by the time they arrived, the child was pulled out. he could not be revived. maryland state police are investigating a deadly motor scooter accident. the 46-year-old crashed while traveling westbound on route 75. that accident happened just after midnight. parts of a baltimore rowhome collapsed. no one was hurt and it is unclear if anyone was living in the building. fire officials are still trying to piece together what caused a fire in spero point. it began early sunday morning. most of the damage to the single-family home was confined to the rear of the building. >> we are watching the skies this evening to see what happens. it would be nice to get through the evening without any rain. there are a lot of crowds down by the inner harbor. there is some rain out there in western maryland. i have also circled baltimore. this area out in the west virginia is moving to the east and southeast. that track would

this happened on the south beach of sandy point state park at around 8 this morning. fire officials say once parents realized the boy was lost state workers jumped into action to try and find him. >> the park immediately took control of the situation, formed a chain of personnel in the water and did a sweep of the area and immediately recovered the child once someone realized that there was someone missing. >> reporter: rescue crews arrivedong the scene and they did administer cpr but it was too late. the child was pronounced dead at an area hospital. officials urge people to keep a close eye on their children whenever they are near any kind of water. brian kuebler, abc 2 news. >> our state is on path to break a deadly record on the water. we have been seeing more boating deaths this year than all of last summer. so the coast guard has been out making sure you have your life jackets on and urging boaters to drink responsibly and be aware of your surroundings. we are working to keep you safe out on the water. we have a list of boating safety tips on the website, abc2ne

the peak season for waterfront and tragedy and yesterday a six- year-old boy drowned at the sandy point state park. he was out in a secluded part of the water and could have been missing for a half hour. this turn of events happens all too often out in open waters and pools and spas every day during this time of the year. the safety commission says at least 123 children have either died or come close to drowning in pools and spas just since memorial day and they are urging parents to keep kids safe out in the water. so this campaign that they launched does not cover waters and lakes and oceans and rivers and of course with so many of us headed to the beach, this right here something that children need. we don't see enough of them. when you look across the beach, little ones should have a coast guard approved life jacket on. it costs about $60 and the thing to know about drownings with kids is it happens so quickly and quietly that this kind of personal flotation device at least gives them a fighting chance to survive. hopefully people will listen to that for sure. and the temperatures are going to
