sandy wood is the executive director of the inland empire lighthouse for the blind. she joins us now by phone. sandy, thank you very much for being here. what was the first time you knew something had began wrong? >> megyn, i believe it was about 10 minutes to 11. or 10 minutes after 11:00 when i heard the gunshot ring out. it was a loud. i'm on the second floor, my office is. and i went to the back of my desk and called 911 to report i was hearing shots fired. that same moment, one of my employees came running up the stairs saying, sandy, there's gunshots. i reported it to the police department. they told me they were getting other calls and police were on their way. so i hung up and i got on the intercom system, we're a school for visually improved, we have about o 60 folks at our school today and i announced to stay in the classroom and lock the doors and that police were on their w way. >> oh, good gracious. you're tell ming me you have 60 blind people in the school, now wondering where the gunshots are coming from, and you have to go on lock down because of real

. >> hold on, guys, joining us on the phone right now sandy wood. she works at the center for the blind in this area at the inland regional center. you heard the shooting, sandy, is that what you can tell us? >> yes, yes, i did. i did hear the gunshots ring out. it was about 11:17 a.m. this morning. i'm here at the inland empire lighthouse for the blind school, which is across the street from the inland regional center. i immediately called 911 and reported i heard shots fired. i got away from the windows, i announced to the school here to lock the facility down. and our doors were locked. pretty soon there were some people fleeing from the building across the street. three of those folks came to our building. and we sheltered them in here. and things just began to unfold after that. and we are all safe here at the lighthouse for the blind. there's about 60 of us here in this building. no one can leave and no one can enter. >> so police are telling you just to stay put. you're in a lockdown situation, is that right? >> that's correct. >> how are you

it was since the deadly mass shooting at sandy hook elementary school in connecticut three years ago. >>> a boy scout troop went for a hike in the woodsfar off the beaten path. their leader was attacked by a bear, but he escaped with his life thanks in part to his shouts. >> a walk in these woods turned into a harrowing ordeal for a boy scout troop leader and three boy scouts. >> we have a gentleman in a cage with the bear and he has been injured by the bear. >> they called reporting a bear attack and first responders scrambled. >> i heard the sirens. >> as a police helicopter hovered overhead the youngsters remembered their survival training. >> it was a mayday for the wounded scout master who was calling for help. >> he is bleeding from his neck, his arm and his head. >> and the scouts saved the day. the injured man was flown to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the young scouts were rescued unharmed. >> shocked because we hike here all the time. >> bear sightings are common. >> any day i can see one, three or five. >> it is the second attack in this area in just over a year. a college student was killed by a black bea

sandy: yeah. have to be very careful, 'cause you don't want to dig into the wood.nd i can shape the boards, i can cut them, i can decal them. tracy is, like, the best stainer ever. she is like our master stain person. lemonis: and everybody here has been here a while? sandy: tracy -- she's been here the longest. everybody else is a little bit less than nine months. lemonis: i'm impressed by the people that are working at kota. they all seem to be hardworking, they seem really committed to the business, but it's odd to me that this company's been in business for three years but everybody that works here has been here less than nine months. chris: josh joined us recently. josh: i'm an investor. lemonis: you're an investor, too? chris: he sure is. lemonis: and you work here full time? -josh: for free. -lemonis: seriously? josh: seriously. lemonis: how much do you have invested here? josh: $50,000. lemonis: did you hit, like, a gold mine or something? josh: i had a restaurant, and i sold it. and i ran into mike. and he said, "hey, i have an opportunity, and i jumped on
