>> meteorologist sandyha patel knows sandhya. >> absolutely. and ama and dan. yes we're going to continue to see some rough surf. so let's take a look at that high surf warning until 3 a.m. tomorrow. right now san francisco boy is reporting 18 footers, though the wind advisory has expanded. just moments ago, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. but you will notice more areas under that advisory. wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour. so you might want to tie down any of your holiday decorations on live doppler seven. there are a couple of isolated sprinkles showing up, but the main storm is off the coast. it's a level two for tomorrow and it is going to bring us gusty winds along with rain. so first thing in the morning the showers arrive before the storm and then here comes that storm. 1 p.m. you start to notice some heavy rain. the downpours at 5 p.m, your evening commute. your evening getaway is going to be rough as we head into tomorrow afternoon. i would if i were you. stay off the roadways if you can, because this is going to be the worst part of it. 5060 is as far as the sierra

so abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel is here with us with information about that high surf warning. >> sandy. yeah >> and kristen, the high surf warning is in effect for good reason. you just showed those pictures. but take a look at a live picture right now from our santa cruz camera. it is so mesmerizing to want to go closer, but stay out of the water and never turn your back to the ocean, off the rocks, off the jetties. because the wave heights are still up there. earlier point sur had a wave height of about 28ft. the heights have come down, but still rough and dangerous. 17 footers right now. bodega bay that high surf warning until 3 a.m. tomorrow. large breakers 28 to 33ft, up to 40ft for favored areas. and that means dangerous swimming, surfing and still a risk of rip currents as we go. hour by hour, those wave heights will slowly come down as we're seeing. and by tomorrow at 6 a.m, they have come down considerably. but it is still not completely subsiding. we have a storm that's a level two that is coming in tomorrow. you can see it's already getting wound up. that's what's

let's get to sandyha patel for how much more rain we could get. sandhya, we're going to get some more showers at least for another day. >> all right, dan and amy, let me show you right now what it looks like from zephyr cove. we're going to take a look at that. and you will see that the snow is coming down. they have been seeing some heavy snow up there, but they have also seeing a mix of rain and snow in the last hour or so. basically, if you are heading up, i would take the chains with you. they are requiring chains on most roads leading up to tahoe right now. mixed precipitation in tahoe, winter weather advisory until 10 p.m. tomorrow. snow and blowing snow with those gusty winds. ridgetops up to 50 miles an hour . we're looking at 5 to 10in of snow above 7000ft. even more than that, a foot to a foot and a half. the snow level is going to go from lake level 7000ft to 4500 tomorrow morning. so that is something you want to keep in mind in case you want to get away. as we look at live doppler seven right now, we are tracking some showers. let's s

sandyha patel what's what's the verdict?oing to have to be very smart about where you go, larry. >> and kristen, because as you take a look at the forecast for tonight, we are going to have some high clouds around the geminid meteor shower. the best viewing is between late tonight and early tomorrow morning. as you mentioned, up to 120 meteors per hour. the problem is we got those high clouds, a new moon, so move away from the bright lights and if you're lucky, you'll get to check them out. take a look at our calendar for this month. december is one of our wettest months, but it hasn't been very productive so far. only four days of measurable rain. we are running behind as we take a look at a live view from our pier 39 camera. it's absolutely beautiful. high clouds on live doppler seven. we're going to bring in the rain, but that's not coming until sunday. tomorrow you have another day of a mix of sun and high clouds, temperatures, 50s 60s as we look at the future, here comes the change in our weather pattern on sunday. goin
