i'm 4.4% in the children in sanfrancisco, we received a hotline call of abuse or neglect. when we get these calls, we screen them initially on the phone and decide whether or not the allegation warrants a visit or response from us. this includes more children than 13 because of sibbings. 2% of all children in sanfrancisco in 2018 were investigated to see if they were at significant risk or victims of abuse or neglect and then, if the threshold of abuse or neglect rises to a level that warrants removal to ensure the safety of the children, we do that and we place them into foster care. you can see we placed 290 children into care in 2018, which represents one quarter of 1% of all children in the city. so the number of kids we're talking about is small relative to the overall child population, but, of course, the needs of these particular children, specifically when he or she or they are removed are significant. the trauma they suffer not only being a victim of abuse or neglect but the trauma they're experiencing and experienced when we remove them from the birth parents are

i'm a tenant here in sanfrancisco and thank you for the opportunity to address you all. i wanted to make a couple of points that have already been made in part, but to drive home the idea of what it feels like to be a rent-controlled tenant, who is experiencing what we call rentoviction. it's not just a construction that goes on endlessly and the water turn-offs and electricity turn-offs. at the end of the day, if tenants want to contest the increased cost passed through to them, as a part of all of the renovations often done to facilitate the intermediate length occupancies, they have to go to rent board to try to fight those costs back and tenants have a difficult time doing that and are rarely successful. so it's not only the environment that's created. it's raising rents for tenants who are in rent-controlled units that would be otherwise protected by the annual cap. and just a couple of other points, i'm a medical student at ucsf and i've contributed to the care that people come here from across the country to seek the services that we have. there's a place for thos

family has been a resident of san francisco for three generations now and any grandfather was a sanfrancisco architect and both parents were born and raised here. so i feel incredibly blessed to have an opportunity to carry forward in a city that truly holds my heart.we're so proud to step in in to support those negatively affected by the war on drugs. we found ai began training to ba instructor in the city and opened up my first studio and meanwhile, chris and his partner opened up a district in soma and he's been a local business owner for the past 13 years. we're currently raising our family and pleasante. as we began raising our family, we became interested in plant nutrition. it became apparent that my students needed more than just yoga so i began training and became a certified holistic health coach. chris and i enjoyed working as a team so we decided to merge his culinary background. we hosted three-week cleanse workshops to teach clients to teach healthy meals, nutritional seminars and yoga and meditation practise. but most importantly to teach them about connectivity. together with
