[applause] and so let me just startby saying something . i want to first apologize to so many members of the lgbtq community who were hurt by the decision that i made to stand by our various public safety officials of the lgbtq community. and i apologize for not also recognizing the hurt and pain that i know some feel as a result of their own interactions and engagements with law enforcement. because i know pride is a really important time for the lgbtq community and at the time where i have always felt that i was always welcomed and i can be whoever it is thati want to be , and i am so happy that the theme of this year is love will keep us together. because seeing the people from our various law enforcement and public safety agencies who are also an important part of the lgbtq community, seeing how they c

.♪ ♪ i appreciate how hard he ♪ ♪ fights for sanfrancisco but ♪ ♪ how much he cares about the ♪ ♪ people the ♪ ♪ pandemic and keeping it ♪ ♪ going .♪ ♪ [applause] and so i looked ♪ ♪ at my first pride in 1994 in♪ ♪ philadelphia and san ♪ ♪ francisco pride my first ♪ ♪ time was 95 .♪ ♪ and it really just doesn't ♪ ♪ matter so much.♪ ♪ you know, with some of the ♪ ♪ turbulence this year, the ♪ ♪ disagreements around pride ♪ ♪ and our police and mayor and ♪ ♪ then there's a separate ♪ ♪ prideprotest that's going to ♪ ♪ happen on polk street some ♪ ♪ people were coming up and ♪ ♪ stressing ,what's happening♪ ♪ and i'm like don't worry ♪ ♪ about it .♪ ♪ it's all going to be good, ♪ ♪ we're all going to come back ♪ ♪ together .♪ ♪ it's okay to have family ♪ ♪ disagreements and arguments ♪ ♪ becausein the end we are all ♪ ♪ family so i'm so thrilled we ♪ ♪ are going to be coming ♪ ♪ together .♪ ♪ and just really excited ♪ ♪ about that.♪ ♪ we have tounderstand what ♪ ♪ ever our disagreements in ♪ ♪ san francisco and we have ♪ ♪ many disagreements, we love ♪ ♪ arguing with ourselves as a ♪ ♪ city

and with that let me bring to the stage the biggest champion ofaffordable housing in the city of sanfranciscohard to do extraordinary things. can youimagine being a kid , hanging out in this courtyard. and i don't know if kids still play hopscotch andjumping jacks and all that stuff weused to play. maybe video gamesbut they need to beoutside anyway . but playing in this courtyard , yelling up to the window, , i'm going to go to the park . heading up the store to the park to enjoy their neighborhoods and to grow up talking about these experiences . this is the dream. it's so much more than housing. it's a community. filled with community-based organizations who been doing extraordinary work.filled with meda and ccc who believe in affordable housing for people in san francisco of all ages. this is an extraordinary project and i'm so happy to be here today and so proud to represent the city in this way. now it's time to do what we've all been waitingfor even though everybody's already moved in . covid put us in this situation so we don't want to miss out on these milestones even though we couldn

currently only 15 percent of sanfrancisco's infants and toddlers in need of care are able to get it . additionally more than 33 percent of programs do not have enough teachers and staff to enroll as many children as desired . collaborative and holistic to generational program is essential to allow families to thrivefor this reason we urge you to continue to fund and support our seas but to find a new more sustainable source to do so. thank you so much . >> you for your comments. next speaker please. >> the morning board. budget committee, my name is the organizer of parent voices in san francisco. i'm here to support all of the budget that this coalition asks. and the san francisco coalition asks. baby proxy was created to respond to a big need for universal childcare. childcare is a basic need is food clothing and shelter and after 25 years as a parent voice organizer we finally created this revenue. we worked so hard for it so we hope we donot create , we do not look at it as a slush fund because the need for childcare, universal childcare according to the director of oce would take
