sanjay gupta is joining me now. i want to know the answer that sanjay, but you are brilliant, doctor and correspondence so i suspect you did well, but a lot of us would be really afraid to potentially know this. i mean, should people will be tested for their risk yeah, this is a really interesting question because if you get tested, you really want to know, depending on the answer, what can i do about it? >> and i think for a lot of people, for a long time when it came to things like alzheimer's, there wasn't necessarily anything that you could really constructively do about it so why no, in the first place but, sir, i think that's that's changing pretty pretty significantly. i don't think it's ready for the masses yet, but it wasn't until the 1980s that they started widespread widespread screening with mammography, for example, something you about well cardiac disease used to think that you, they're gonna get it or not but now you check cholesterol and blood pressure and things like that. >> i think we're starting t

sanjay gupta. >> he's also a neurosurgeon. njay, first of all, i'm not quite buying that you're a little rusty pretty all there to meet but not every now and then but i mean, it's so interesting. >> i didn't even know that younger people could do tests like this. do you think other people should do what you did and test their alzheimer's risk? >> i don't think that it's necessarily for the masses as of yet, abby, and i think just even a few years ago, the common sort of question was, look if i get these tests, what can i do about it? what differences are going to make? >> i think that that's the part of the equation that's starting to change. >> it's become clear that there are things that can be done in terms of reducing the likelihood you'll progress. maybe even changing your overall outcome in the long run. so i think we're going to see these tests become more more, more common, kinda like richard isaacson was saying, there like a cholesterol test are testing your psa for example yeah. >> i mean, the question of what can be

sanjay gupta joins me now, dr. gupta sandra, great to see you as always more than we thought you'd be perfect for this. >> you are a neurosurgeon& i have to the question i had instantly when i saw this as well besides of the question, do i have one? but how common might this be? does this happen? >> yeah, this does happen. i mean, obviously we're just hearing about it from rfk himself, but i can tell you as a neurosurgeon, this is a rare condition, but it's typically something that has caused by eating undercooked pork and again, we don't know this for sure, but just based on the description that we're here hearing sounds very much like this, where you eat under-cooked pork and the larvae get into your bloodstream. and then basically can spread throughout the body in the bloodstream, they can go to all sorts of different organs including the brain, gym. so again, it's unusual, but let me show you an image here. this is what it might look like in someone's brain. when you do an mri scan, you might see these areas an
