gil diaz in santa clara with this legal fight that is brewing. good morning, gil. >>> reporter: the group that opposes the new stadium project is known as "santa clara plays fair." their attorney is trying to get a judge right now to let residents here a second chance to vote on the stadium. that's because the group feels duped about the stadium's financing. they claim that the 49ers team, the nfl and stadium revenues would help pay for 88% of the project's cost. but it turns out according to them that the city's stadium authority, which is the public agency operating the new stadium, approved enough bank loans to fund 83% of the project. the council voted last night 5- 2 to reject the referendum but the city's mayor said he would like to go to court still to put this issue to rest. >> the courts put a punctuation point on this so we don't end up with frivolous lawsuits that seek to tie up the project just for the sake of tying it up. >> reporter: just how much bank loans did the stadium authority approved? $850million. it costs about clearly clo
