but for the weekend, santa rosa downtown, that's santa rosa fire station, almost three and a half.d a third spring valley peninsula near crystal springs reservoir over to orinda fire station, 1.82 yountville, an inch and three quarters danville. that's at the danville library. an inch and a quarter. oakland, just shy of an inch in the city, had three quarters of an inch. so really it was mainly about higher elevations or areas north. our system is on the way, but it's lifting north, so the bulk of the heavy rain is gone. well, well to the north 50s on the temps it will be a mild day, maybe even some sun. i think santa clara valley, we could get some mid 60s. there's not a lot of rain this morning, but there's a little bit it pick up tonight, tomorrow and for sure as we go into wednesday night and then also again on thursday, there will be some pretty good totals which will take us all the way to the end of the week, just not so much this morning. so till the clouds roll by with some light rain kind of again, mainly higher elevations or just hit and miss light stuff in the morning.

in santa rosa, 57.rd, 58, in palo alto, upper 50s san jose to morgan hill and right over to san francisco. we're right there at 56. now, if you're not here, but you're heading up to the sierra, a little dusting of snow. so be ready for winter conditions. we'll see anywhere from four to about eight inches at the very highest pass levels. so those conditions are going to be very slick and slippery on the 7-day forecast. this cannot come soon enough. sunshine saturday and sunday. temps in the 50s. we're dry on monday and then now what? looks to be another system next tuesday and wednesday. the long range models right now are kind of split on scenarios. one hits southern california and extremely hard. that would be, you know, really a horrible situation after the recent fires and the fire burn scars. the other one takes it towards us, maybe as a half inch to maybe 1.5in. but if the one, the southern california one ends up happening, it's showing 2 to 3in of rain down there. and this is next week. yeah, this

a big tree fell on a building at steele lane elementary school in santa rosa late this morning. thankfully, no one was hurt. >>> here's a live look outside. all across our region the heavy rain returning this afternoon after most of us got a brief break in the wet weather today. we check in with first alert chief meteorologist paul heggen already tracking that rain, already arriving in the bay area. >> it's going to make its way across the bay area through this evening. let's look at the radar replay over the last three hours or so, put some labels on the map so you don't get lost. we've seen the bulk of the rain falling over the north bay, but becoming a little heavier over the past couple hours, heavier downpours falling around santa rosa for the moment, nothing for the rest of the bay area. that will change as we head through the night as this rain goes farther and farther south across more of the bay area. let's look at the amounts to this point in the system. it's highly variable. over 5 inches of rain for kentfield, almost 3 1/2 inches for ben lomond, santa rosa picking up

we're along stanford and hall in unincorporated santa rosa. this is one of the usual kind of trouble low lying spots in the area. earlier this morning, the sheriff's office, along with the sonoma county fire district, were out here around 545 responding to a body recovery operation. a high water vehicle was deployed, as well as a swimmer in the water, and more than an hour later, a male body was found in flood waters. these areas get flooded pretty quickly when we get a significant amount of rain. our victim was not in a vehicle. our victim was located just in the flood water. there was a bicycle also found close by and that was the victim's bicycle. the sheriff's office also confirming this midday that another body was found yesterday before five in the evening along franz valley road. that victim's body was found inside a culvert on private property along franz valley. both deaths are deemed storm related. now, flooding continues to be a concern, particularly in low lying areas along the russian river. but the storm has also created heighten

gearing up for heavy showers anywhere from santa rosa into the santa clara valley. will rise and we are dealing with cloudy and wet conditions everywhere throughout the day. the atmospheric river is sweeping its way into the sierra and providing plenty of snow which will be great heading into the weekend when things dry up. right now it is a mess throughout northern california we see light to moderate rain anywhere from the north by all the way down to the east bay and the santa clara valley. advancing the clock. you can see the timestamp around my head. you can see have your showers holding on to communities like napa and into the marin area. it moves and offshore with breaks from the rain at times. then we go into the evening hours tonight . around 4:00, 5:00, many of us are wrapping up school and work. some of the heaviest rain starting to fall along the coast but that will sweep throughout the peninsula and move east. by 9:00 tonight, we are done. at least for a little bit. the wednesday forecast will be relatively dry. light and scattered showers in the north b

they were both found just today part in santa rosa. authorities have identified them a 61 year-old jon radecki from calistoga. an 81 year-old frank robinson from sebastopol. radecki was found early yesterday morning in a flooded area on sanford road between occidental and hall roads. robinson was found wednesday night in a drainage tunnel on fronts valley road. with a dry couple of days ahead. people in santa rosa got a chance to clean up after all that rain and flooding crews. we're trying to clear this big tree from the road today. it fell this morning and blocked south right road. experts say when you have wet soil and strong winds swell that can cause a tree to go down. >> it's going away. thank that says it comes up. it goes down. >> residents in guernville breathing a sigh of relief tonight as the russian river continues to recede. it's now several feet below flood stage on wednesday. the river had risen to more than 4 feet over its flood stage of 32 foot. >> stuff it will take everything. everything you have. i've seen propane t

santa rosa. they've already had an impressive year. they had over another 4 inches of rain and inch of rain in san francisco over 3 inches of richmond. but look at this in san jose this it's really interesting. they fell under what's called the rain shadow effect. you get all that moisture running over the top of the santa cruz mountains, rains out over the mountains. by the time we get to san jose, the santa clara valley, there's not much moisture left so they will have less than 10th of an inch of rain. but don't worry, there's plenty more to come. boy, it is get fierce looking toward the mount tam cam. look at that. that is amazing. it is just raging up there. so windy across the mountain peaks. we've seen some very strongest down below. but as a truck, ross of those exposed pieces are going to see some really strong winds. fact, you're seeing that rain system beginning to move in. this will pack a punch overnight tonight and tomorrow. it is going to be a nasty day around the bay area. be careful if you've got to go out a pretty str

that could be again over 2 inches, maybe 2 1/2 inches for some of our santa clara valley communities, but again, the heaviest rainfall easily is falling in places like the santa cruz mountains and our north bay communities, but we'll not only see rain, we'll see windy conditions. our winds are beginning to pick up, especially across our coastal communities where they're gusting 25 to 35 miles an hour and those gusty winds will stick around into tomorrow as well, which is why we do have wind advisories in effect, especially closer to the coast. that includes here in san francisco and for our more inland east bay communities, as we could be seeing gusts up to 60 miles an hour. let's take a closer look at the timing of the winds because it's our south bay communities and closer to places like half moon bay that will see the strongest wind gusts into tomorrow. today again coming in straight from the south gusting up to maybe 45 miles an hour, calming down especially for our north bay communities by early tomorrow morning. by tomorrow afternoon it's definitely going to be windy, half moon

well south of the golden gate and mostly just down in the santa cruz mountains down into the santa clara valley. you can actually see some of this residual energy still hanging out those upper elevations on the peninsula. it's still a little bit of snowfall in the sierra where we're sitting on the san mateo and dumbarton bridges. a few isolated showers. you're seeing those around foster city down through stanford and a couple sprinkles in the west side of san jose at the moment. no new rainfall up in the north bay, which is good news. we still have that flood watch in effect for just a few final moments west of santa rosa. speaking of advisories that just got canceled. no more winter storm warnings up in the sierra officially expiring. now, as far as winds go much calmer than the he aggressively windy conditions yesterday we had winds in excess of over 50 miles per hour. as for future cast, there's that little less remaining rainfall pushing through after this. we see some clear dry skies into the weekend. good chance to head up to the sierra to enjoy it or just stay here in the bay area

reservoirs in the streams, you name almost an inch in santa rosa near mayor just to the west of santa rosa. they've had their over an inch and a half. and so that's why we're talking about the russian river mark west creek, some of those creeks having some issues. sonoma, you're looking at over half an inch over half an inch in napa, seth, just go under half an inch, almost half an inch in oakland and almost a 3rd there in san jose. but adding to some very impressive totals that we've seen since the previous friday, see the storm system kind of rolling in to get the sense a little swirl there. little smaller area of low pressure, kind of amplifying some of that moisture comes by. but there's another one right behind it. and this one right here. that's the one i'm watching right now is pulling in some cold air with it. that is going to start to roll in toward the coastline overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. so kind of a one-two punch coming our way of that system going to drop in overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning. right now, just mainly scattered showers about the bay
