you hear them called, you know, the santa ana's down in southern california. same concept.asically you get moist, warm air hits the mountain and it's forced upwards and once it gets forced upwards, things start to change, right? it gets into a little bit of a different situation that air cools as it rises. then it goes rushing down the other side of the mountain that cooler air passes over the amount it sinks down and it dries and it warms and usually picks up speed as it goes down. so you get this very hot wind kind of rolling from the mountains towards us here in the bay. now we're going to have that this weekend. so remember, 85% of wildfires are caused by. that's right. it's a we've got to be fire safe this weekend. got to think about this as we're going into this fire weather watch today. very different circumstance. obviously we're having a cool day. kind of a nice day out there were sitting in the 60's and as we head over the next couple of days, that will be the story. but by the time you get to saturday, make sure you are thinking about being fire safe heading into

cal fire says powerful santa ana winds are fueling the flames.t last check, the fire was 0% contained. many pumpkin growers in western states, including colorado and new mexico, are struggling this halloween season. they're still feeling the effects of the drought, even as farmers here in california are getting a bit of a break. the growers and other western states have been forced to rely on dwindling groundwater for irrigation. that created problems in the crunch time before halloween, when peak pumpkin demand hits. you're at the mercy of mother nature, so it's hard to plan and you do the best you can. sometimes you're right. sometimes you're not. we found out pretty early in the year that our reservoir supplies were pretty low and we were only going to get about half the water we normally get on a normal year. the drought has created a pumpkin shortage in those western states, and that's been driving up prices. we were supposed to get a little bit of rain further up north, i guess, this weekend. steve paulson might be here. yeah i think right
