wanted to start with a look at temperatures across the state can see in santa barbara at 77 degrees. >> but a pretty nice day across all of california. and certainly here in the bay temperatures have been pretty lovely see some 80's on the map. so santa rosa nevado in those low 80's livermore in antioch, upper 70's in san jose about 70 degrees in oakland and we've had a lot of blue skies out there. so it's been quite nice as we kind of work our way towards what is going to be a very different weather pattern as we head towards the weekend. so let's start with tonight, which is to say that we won't be seeing a whole lot of fog in the entire bay area. notice it's kind of patching. it's concentrated more along spots down along the peninsula. north begun to catch a little bit of a break tonight. they come over break last night as well. so not so much fog in the north bay, but the rest will start to see some of that fill in and then clear out as we get into tomorrow. temperatures tonight, a little chilly in spots nap about 50 to 48 in santa rosa. we've been seeing some of those 40's pop up

but as you can see, those showers starting to make its way into camry o and then eventually santa barbara san luis obispo county, where it is going to eventually weekend from a tropical storm to a tropical depression. and you can actually think are cool. pacific waters for that. so that's why the rain totals for southern california, not as intense as what we were previously expecting, but future cast for is going to track a very unstable atmosphere, nonetheless, with those of you in the south bay and inland valleys of the east bay, slight chance of pop-up thunderstorms and light scattered showers. but it looks like the bulk of the most active weather will be to our south in monterey county. but there's still that slight chance it could make its way here into the bay area. so just keep that in mind for your saturday afternoon and evening. taking a live look outside our saving grace karl. the fog finally returning tonight after our major heat wave in the bay area's still hot for our hottest inland valleys, livermore. exactly 20 degrees above average. concord also hitting that century. mark

it happened in in santa barbara county, it was one of the largest fires in california's modern historyebris flow. debris flows. it was a dark and wet january night, just one month after the historic thomas. thomas fire. the storm dumped over two inches of rain in two s two days on chart hillsides. the the rainfall rates were particularly heavy, over half an an inch in just five minutes. that was in montecito. a huge bm huge boom, and then what looked like an explosion. rushing mod caused a gas line to erupt, boulders and tree branches quicy branches quickly flow from the mountains into the creeks, valls creeks, valleys, 23 people were. were killed. hundreds of homes damaged or destroyed. needless to say, southern california is still reeling and remembering. next, what have you been seeing in your neck of the state? >> that same year was an eye-opener for our community after a whether whiplash even forced the evacuation of 180,000 180,000 people a little bit north of sacramento. after years years of drought, 2017 brought the wettest winter in nearly a . a century. rivers overflowed thei
