national weather service just a lifted, a flood advisory in the santa clara valley that continues, though, in the santa cruz area. but you see all that rain coming down all the way from the santa cruz mountains toward a san jose. and boy, it's been heavy. but yeah. issue that a flood advisory in across the santa cruz mountains. apparently they just reissued in the santa clara valley was wonder if they're going to do that because the rain has just been coming down very, very heavily. there. some of those rain rates over an inch in some cases over 2 inches an hour. so that has now been extended as well. so we're watching that very closely bill. it is just been coming down all across the area into san jose in these spots are seeing some of those rain or a tremendous amount as we take in the street level. some of those spots there. santa clara street that you get on to a north forestry boy. it is just dumping in those neighborhoods. so if you live in those spots, there is going to take another couple of. hours here before we start to see things really taper off the other parts of the bay area

farther into the 60s with more clearing heading farther inland in the santa clara valley. middle 60s. then around 60 degrees for inland parts of the east bay. today, the fog stubborn. likely for the first half of the day tomorrow. more sunshine in the afternoon. upper 50s for san francisco and oakland. closer to 60 on the east side of the bay. mostly near 60 degree temperatures for the north bay. a couple in the upper 50s. depends on the terrain. farther north, the temperatures will be warmer, farther into the 60s. everybody warms up two to three degrees on sunday and back down again on monday and tuesday. more clouds on monday. your odds of seeing anything more than a drop or two of the windchill look low at there point. a better rain chance for the entire bay area still in the forecast on thursday. that will bring a little temperature drop as well by the end of next week. that rain chance looks like the first of a few that are going to head our way with more unsettled pattern shaping up as we get closer to the middle of december. that is beyond the scope of the seven-day

just a little bit more in the santa clara valley and the south end of the bay but just barely edgingtowards the top of the moderate category and maybe unhealthy for sensitive groups. things should improve with the next rain chance, the next one system to our northwest but will send a chance of showers towards us late tomorrow and into tomorrow night. we will show you the cloud cover building in with locally dense fog to start tomorrow. a chance of some hit or miss showers during the afternoon but they will be more miss than hit. best chance of showers will develop after the sun goes down tomorrow evening and continue into the early hours of tomorrow night, mostly getting out of here by midnight and we should be drying out into thursday with a mixture of clouds and sunshine in the forecast on thursday. right now, plenty of sunshine towards oakland and a better two of the horizon without the pollution. upper-50s and low-60s. we will see some locally dense fog by early tomorrow morning but that should slowly improve through the first half of the day and this will be cloud cover overhead

this extends all the way through the santa clara valley up through the east bay, up the peninsula, of course anywhere you see yellows and oranges, the rain is heavier. there is plenty down here. we've got bands about to move through marin. we can switch to futurecast which depicts that pretty much exactly and shows us how by the time we advance this past 8:00 or 9:00 in the morning, this widespread area of fairly consistent rain has moved to the south and we'll still have a few left over scattered showers that will stay with us throughout the remainder of the morning. once we advance this past noon, 1:00, you will see how things really quiet. this is 2:00 in the afternoon. there are far fewer now. by that point, we bring the rain to an end. if we come away with an idea for how much rain we will get, we can look at the totals which come up to a quarter to a half inch of rain today. we'll see daytime highs that climb to the low 50s. there is another system coming our way. that shows up in the seven-day forecast which does look busy. the next chance for rain shows up second half of the d

some of the valleys will be rain shadowed, meaning they will get less rainfall like santa clara valleyflooding small street drains will be possible. for the sierra we are looking at several feet of snow. let's take a look at some of the computer models that show our rain outlook and what some of the numbers may look like for early next week, anywhere from three to possibly four inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains will be a pretty big amount. but for the sierra for the next system we are getting tonight, two to six inches of snow. check out next week. the possibility of getting over 70 inches of snow in kirkwood, and that's just two weeks before christmas, so that's perfect if we do see this panning out. let's take a look at our forecast. it's going to be chilly the next few days. we could have frosty conditions as we go into the weekend for the start of the morning, only reaching into the mid-50s with sunshine. we will be talking about this atmospheric river coming in on sunday afternoon into early next week. mike, you had lots of light? >> yeah, kari, yesterday you saw a traffi

as for the south bay, we started to dry out now in the santa clara valley. we saw rainfall just moments ago, though. so it's very wet. and then the east bay is really where we're looking at most of our rainfall right now. moderate showers between concord antioch on over discovery bay heavier rain out towards the central valley and snowfall in the sierra nevada has been closed down roads this morning crews really tried to get 8050 opened up yesterday and that did indeed happen. but it is rough travels today. so if you want to head to the sierra wait till tomorrow to do so. we will be looking at showers today. the heaviest during morning hours and remaining into the afternoon. still some spotty showers really all day long. but starting to clear towards the finish of the day. that sets us up for thursday, friday saturday and sunday a dry stretch of weather good chance to head to the sierra enjoy that new snowfall spend new year's eve up there but make sure you head back by sunday as winter weather kicks back into gear monday of next week. 30's and 40's for our

less in the santa clara valley. it looks like the rain shadow will be in effect tomorrow morning. santa cruz mountains, another bullseye for the rain. the highest rate of rain to start the week looks to be on monday right there, midday, santa cruz mountain. south bay could now see a considerable amount of rain. once you factor in the sunday rain and add in the monday totals you see the purple on the map, indicating we could be looking at 2 to 4 inches of rain on the higher peaks of the santa cruz mountains and north bay mountains, probably at this point closing in on half a foot of rain. behind that, here we go. cold air dropping on down. you heard about the sierra ski resorts. this is what will be great news for kickstarting a see air asnow pack. a great way to do it is the cold air support and a lot of moisture brought in by a moderate strength atmospheric river. those are snow totals just through 7:00 a.m. on tuesday. you are at 5 to 6 feet of snow. we will probably finish the week at 8 to 9 feet of snow. as we talked about, the mountains could be looking at snow showers by tues
