there's the live lock of the santa clara valley we just showed a second ago. for us this morning but chilly temperatures. oh my gosh yesterday at this time we were in the 0s in the santa clara valley, right now in the 40s. redwood city and from half-moon bay also in the 40s there. 50s into san francisco. and if you think that's mild, look all the way to the north bay. i mean, 40s into novato and 30s north of that all the way up into santa rosa this morning. so here's what we're looking at throughout the bay area as we head into the next couple of days. a big shift in the weather pattern and it's actually calling for some issues right around the corner as low pressure moves its way in. that's going to bring in just a mix of clouds but also seeing high pressure offshore. what ends up happening when we're sandwiches in-between the two systems, we see really strong winds sweeping in from the north. and that's going to happen this weekend. i'm actually advancing the clock right now so this is saturday afternoon alone. look at these wind gusts and it's only going to

it's a mild day with upper 70s into santa clara valley. from the coast to the east bay we are seeing temperatures hand in hand. usually in the summer we have a temperature spread with triple digits in the east bay. but today they match up with beautiful conditions to kick off the week. winds were gusty yesterday but are lighter today, wind gusts around 15 miles an hour along the coastline and we are in the 70s also in san francisco. a little bit above average for now and that will be the case tomorrow too. that's what you see on this map. california coastline highlighted in yellow and high pressure will build and that will warm up the rest of the state as we wrap up the week and head into the weekend. >>> now the ongoing crisis in the middle east. israel is ramping up ground assault with tanks and infantry pushing deeper into the gaza strip. it follows heavy bombing causing large numbers of palestinian civilian casualties. that's according to hamas which released new proof of life of some hostages it is holding. >> reporter: these are the

the peninsula, santa clara valley, east bayshore and the city . all of those areas in orange are under the heat advisory. you are not under a heat advisory for the inland valleys even though your temperatures will be higher. you will be warmer over here than you will in the bay but the differences, it is such a big change from what you have been used to. you will feel it more and you have not acclimated as much. it is a really important nuance to the microclimates and how they impact us in different ways. a big ridge of high pressure showing up. the storms have to go up and over that. that blocking ridge of high pressure is what is dominating the story and what will be keeping our temperatures above average. let's take a look at daytime highs for tomorrow. keep in mind as we are looking ahead to thursday's numbers, thursday and friday are our two warmest days. northbay, mid-90s. when we look at the central bay, we are getting right into the heat advisory situation. look at redwood city's number. half moon bay, an 80 degree temperature at the coast.
