the forecast today where we are seeing 10 degrees below average from san jose down into the santa clara valley. the rest of us are in the 50s too. let me show you that. as we head down into the santa clara valley, our highs reflect areas like the peninsula where we have been in the 50s. for our inland areas, it was easter sunday and monday where we were talking about 70s. this is a big change for us today. we will talk a little more about that storm. not only did it bring in cooler temperatures but it also brought in all that rain too and we are seeing some lingering showers heading into the afternoon hours today. it will only be in our inland areas. take a look at this. by lunchtime, partly cloudy skies in our inland areas. more clear along the coast. that will change throughout the afternoon. it will be a time where clouds roll into the local community. into the 3:00 hour, we see the showers forming your concord and antioch , up into fairfield where we could see a 10th of an inch of rain. by midnight tonight and heading into the forecast this weekend, we dry up fast which is perfect timing b

santa clara county nurses are striking for the next three days . it is the first strike in the counties nursing history. it is happening at three hospitals. santa clara valley medical center, o'connor and st. louis's regional hospital. union members and volunteers for the registered nurses professional association of fighting for better pay, better staffing and more resources for workers. the hospitals say they will conduct emergency and essential services through the duration. >>> let's give you a live look at the oakland coliseum. today the acer meeting with city officials to try and reach an agreement on a potential lease extension with the stadium. the team is looking to move to las vegas in 2028. the lease with the coliseum expires after this season. the organization has met with officials but no deal has been formally announced yet. it has been somewhat of a tug-of-war between the a's in the city and fans are getting caught in the middle. kenny choi talk to some of them at yesterday's game, about what terms they would like to see for the split. >> reporter: richard gomez drives in our have to come to each oakland a's home game. but like many fans he r

crop of showers coming in right across the peninsula, santa cruz mountains working into the santa clara valleye how this turns to snow once again already. there's mount hamilton and the purple splotch. on this side there's the santa cruz mountains and you can see a little purple showing up there near radar which sits on mount umunhum and the heavier bands of rain moving across the south bay. you can see the rotation on there now, but the high resolution forecast model definitely sees it. watch this. see it? center of the system. when you get to the middle, you just get more thunderstorms and briefer downpours that can develop here. you've also got the spinning pinwheel on the outskirts which will continue to throw a few more showers while the general system continues south. it will do that tomorrow. look how fast these showers are getting caught up and pulled down to the south as the main storm pulls away. friday we're still in that phase. we've definitely got rain tomorrow, but you'll get way more blue sky and way more time when you aren't getting rained on tomorrow. just know there's always

all throughout the santa clara valley. off to a cool start this morning. are right around the corner for us. so let's talk about the reason why this is even happening. because for the past couple of days we've been seeing high pressure build in from offshore. what does that do for us? well, it dries us up and there's a reason we haven't seen rain anytime soon and no rain in the forecast at least for the next seven days. to add to that, it's also the reason why we're seeing a little bit of warm in the forecast for us. by how much? well, yesterday we were about ten degrees above average near san jose and today 13 degrees above average topping off around 82 heading into this afternoon. we're expecting 70s anywhere from oakland across that beautiful clear bay bridge over into san francisco. it's going to be a great day for us to get out there and get any outdoor activity in and if you are too busy today. it's okay. we have the exact same forecast tomorrow as well. so let's take a quick look at what's happening for us today all throughout the bay area. 76 today

santa clara valley health care says that it has spent $20 million to cover the strike and it's bringing000 contract nurses. some patients' appointments have been rescheduled until after the strike. santa clara valley health care says that it has been generous with the terms in a new contract. >>> well, a commuter alert for people along the central coast. this is because authorities are telling us that drivers need to avoid highway 1, this is after part of the road collapsed. it happened saturday as the heavy rain moved through that area. now, the collapse is near rocky creek bridge, about 17 miles south of monterey. at this point it's unclear when the highway will be repaired. caltrans says the highway is closed but the chp will be escorting residents who show proof of residency in that area. california state parks have temporarily closed all of the parks in big sur for day use and camping because of that road closure. we will have that full list, as you can see on your screen. you can see all the closures. now, officials say that they want you to avoid camping in that area. but if you

show off the santa clara all the time and just for point of reference that is right about there in the hills. and it's usually a great window for us to look out across the santa clara valleything right now. over the skyline boulevard and normally we're looking down like stevens creek boulevard and that view. nothing is. that camera is at 2800 feet and totally socked in right now. one other camera. this is the one on mount diablo. that one has the big wide view looking out over inland contra costa county. of course mount diablo sits right about here, that's the view from mount diablo right now. pretty much gray from most of the cameras. santa clara valley has maybe some openings but everyone is going to stay just about this gray until early afternoon and there we are at 1:00. where we'll get into more sunshine as the system starts to clear up a bit. a bit breezy near the water today thanks to the increased onshore flow. but if you are inland you really shouldn't notice a whole lot from that. there's a little bit of an additional issue to that marine layer. it's going to be able to mist out over the next few mornings. did it a little this morning. along the coast. and in th
