we have 90s in the forecast near fremont, 90s down into the santa clara valley. it is a hot day for us today here in the bay area, but we do cool down fast as we creep closer to the weekend forecast right around the corner. we're talking about 70s in the forecast for san francisco, just in time for fleet week in san francisco. we're expecting 71 by friday. cloudy skies sticking around. and of course, the big thing that we want to keep a close eye on is how dense those clouds really are. will we get a good air show? are they going to have to fly above or below those clouds? we were just reading their website earlier this morning because i was curious how low can those clouds even get to where they cancel the show and it would be around 1000ft. the faa will allow down to 1000ft if we can get that much distance from the ground. so fingers crossed. right. and as we get closer, we'll be able to forecast that even better for the time being, though, it's still a couple of days away or actually more than that. we're about five days away right now we're expecting 80s this

temperatures dropping in the santa clara valley. temperatures will be about four to five degrees above normal. into the low to mid-80s there. mostly in the middle portions of the 80s. 86 in the warm spot and antioch and fairfield. we'll handle that after temperatures there about 106 degrees for several consecutive days. low to mid-60s along the coast. those numbers are normal for october night. and temperatures in the north bay, mostly in the 80s, a couple of spots as you go farther north sneaking up to 91 degrees for the high temperatures in healdsburg by tomorrow afternoon. as we look further down the line, the chance for showers in the north bay on saturday. it's not a real good chance, but hey, we're getting closer to the 50-50 mark, and north of the golden gate as they make their way down towards oakland. and into the santa clara valley, the rain chances will avoid you. despite that chance for rain, we are still looking at signs of the above average temperature pattern continuing in the long range data. temperatures in the 6 to

looking at the santa clara valley in the south bay right now, where it's going to be extra toasty inlandlet's check back in with meteorologist jessica burch. >jessica>it is going to be extra toasty inland and along our coast. we're getting this offshore breeze as we head into this afternoon. usually the winds help keep the coast nice and cool, but when you see those winds move offshore and that downslope in areas like ocean beach pacifica, all the way down into half moon bay, like you see right now, that's when you know it's going to be hot along our coastline there, not getting that much needed relief, just along that marine area. now, as we head into the afternoon hours, we're going to be seeing daytime highs hit the 80s near half moon bay and along the coast. 90s expected today near san francisco. this is the first time in over two years we've dealt with 90s in the forecast in the city of san francisco, and we are breaking records in areas like san jose sitting at 100 degrees this afternoon. the record was 96 on this day before. now you head up into the north bay. of course, we're sti

the showers will kind of dissipate as they try to move into the santa clara valley. but it's a decent chance of at least enough moisture to settle the dust. the fact there's a gap in between, it's good news for all the trick or treaters. looks like clear skies for much of the day tomorrow. a fir clouds will move through. we'll freeze the map when most of the kids will be out. and things are looking good at that point. increasing clouds throughout the day on friday. but the next wave of rain will be moving in around this time on friday. just before the sun will go down. once again, this will be a fast mover and have access to more moisture. and as they drop north to south, you'll see the radar simulation, showing a little bit more activity, especially in terms of the brightest yellows, indicating rainfall rates as they move across the bay area. tonight's rain looks like it will move out before the sun comes up. should be gone by the time they arrive on saturday morning. in terms of how much rain we expect out of both systems, this is the latest estimate from the weath

heat warning warnings in the pinkish purple-shaded areas, most inland parts of the east bay, santa clara valley, santa cruz mountains where temperatures are much more likely to exceed 100 degrees the next couple days, some of the hottest spots approaching 110 degrees. let's look at today's high temperatures. we climbed to the mid-90s in livermore and santa rosa, san jose as well, made it to the upper 80s in fremont and san francisco, low 70s along the coast and half moon bay. you'll climb to the 80s tomorrow for the first time this year, the warmest day in 2024 for coastal parts of the bay area and san francisco a high of 91 tomorrow. temperatures area-wide will be 20 to 25 degrees above what's typical and the heat risk with the hottest spots around antioch and brentwood in the moderate to high category today, very high to extreme for the next couple days. add to that we have a spare the air alert because air quality will be in the unhealthy for sensitive groups range inland in the east bay and the santa clara valley. try to reduce the amount of driving you're doing. we'll look how long this la

degrees in half moon bay, 92 redwood city, 97 in san jose, another day of record highs in the santa clara valley. san francisco dropped back down to 79 degrees. upper 90s and low 100s are common east of the oakland hills, 101 in concord, 102 in livermore. we have another day of this tomorrow, maybe not quite as hot as today, but we still have the excessive heat warnings and heat advisories that were extended for parts of the bay area into the first half of the weekend and likely through sunday, especially farther inland. let's look at tomorrow for high temperatures as we compare the forecast highs to normal for this time of year. we'll still be 10 to 15 degrees above average around the bay, 80 in san francisco, 86 in oakland, 15 to 20 degrees above average farther inland, not 25 plus degrees departure from tuesday and wednesday, but way above where we're supposed to be in early october. antioch and brentwood the heat risk will drop one category tomorrow from very high to high, but heading into saturday temperatures bounce up again. we'll be back into the very high category likely both saturday a

down in the santa clara valley. heading out to the-49ers game.ain is the issue, bigger issue is the big cooldown. high temperatures only in the low 70s. by kickoff, upper 60s as those temperatures. you will need to grab a warmer jacket if you plan to head out to the-49ers game and again a layers day. as an area high pressure is the reason we are above average this afternoon. but that area of high pressure quickly departing by tomorrow and the storm system and this low-pressure system arrive by tomorrow afternoon bringing more cloud coverage and potential for rain and cooler temperatures that will stick around early next week and stay below average for at least the next six to ten days. looking at the seven-ten-day forecast. interesting to see how the temperatures cool down and level out. inland areas, upper 70s today. low 70s tomorrow. getting back to the upper 60s to low 70s by the early parts of next week and staying that way all next week. you are going to be officially feeling that fall chill in air all across the area with those microclimate

this is our live weather camera looking out from monument peak out towards the santa clara valley. you can see the santa cruz mountain range in the background here, and we have several decks of clouds. just beautiful. these clouds are on the back end of the passage of the cold front. that did produce a little bit of rain showers around the bay area. currently we have temperatures from 59 in half moon bay to 68 degrees in fairfield. it's also just shy of 70 degrees in san jose. the winds are pretty flat to the north and to the east. oakland now picking up a breeze to 12. but take a look at the peninsula through the santa clara valley. winds are at 15 16mph. these winds will continue to blow until about sundown tonight. again, 611 now that smattering of precipitation across the bay area. a 10th here, a 10th there, but over an inch. and mount tamalpais in the north bay and the santa cruz mountains approaching a half an inch of rain. so we have system number one pass us. we have yet another one poised and positioned to bring us more rainfall by friday night into our saturday. and this n

so for the east bay, for san francisco and oakland, and certainly for the santa clara valley, rain chances are lower than 20%. and even parts of the north bay. sonoma and marin counties have better rain chances than napa county. confined closer to the coast. everything should be winding down as we head into saturday evening. that's a few days off. we'll keep you updated on that as we head through the workweek. in the short term, let's enjoy our return to normal temperatures. looking outside right now towards downtown from treasure island and from sutra tower, looking good in both directions. not seeing much fog yet. that'll change later on tonight. we'll be in the 50s across the board by early tomorrow morning. and the fog will redevelop and make a good push across the bay into those interior valleys as we head through the rest of tonight so. let's take a look at fog, the futurecast simulation of that fog shows a big push across the bay and into the interior valleys of the east bay, the santa clara valley, and the north bay early tomorrow morning. it's going to not take too long for that f

not only over that mount diablo area, but we want to also focus in on the eastern portion of santa clara valley. now, the last time we've had a fire in throughout the santa clara valley area was the quimby fire in august that burned 33 acres then, and we also had a fire, the dino fire near the pacheco pass that burned about 30 acres there. so extremely dry fuels. but the winds were not as aggressive at that particular point. they will be this time around. now that wind advisory is in effect tomorrow night through friday night. but also tomorrow night at 11 p.m. through saturday at 5 p.m. the entire bay area except one notable exception around the marin coastline. we have a red flag warning. in effect, this is rare. when's the last time you seen a red flag warning in effect for sandy san francisco, the city. and it's true. the entire area. i want to walk you through this here, because we had the cold front slice through the bay area today, producing about 4/100 of an inch of rain in throughout the petaluma area. just a smattering of rain, but a lot of dry, cool air mass in its wake. so we do hav

is scattered rainfall you see it falling apart moving inland into the east bay and into the santa clara valley. that is where you will not see enough rain to maybe settle the dust a little bit. dry conditions tomorrow, a lot of sunshine for halloween. trick or tweet time tomorrow, looking good, fair amount of clouds moving through. the next chance of rain will move to the north bay with similar timing, right around sunset on friday. this is going to be more substantial. yellows slowing up, this will be a better chance of widespread significant rain. a quarter of an inch to half an inch on widespread basis. moving out. let's take a look at how much we expect and these are the estimates from the weather prediction center. they are a little optimistic on the wet side of things, i think we will fall short of 4/10th of an inch. everything comes together right. it is possible you approach half an inch of rain. they are saying half an inch to 3/4s of an inch of rain. that is the best case scenario. half of these amount that is a nice amount of rain. off shore winds kicking in. not for too long. rainf

unhealthy for much of the east bay, as well as santa clara valley. and if you can catch public transit and try to reduce our carbon emissions today we're headed for some really hot temperatures. today, dangerously hot. that may set a record in spots like santa rosa, where we're expecting a high of 104. the record is 101, set back in 2012, will be close to a record in san francisco. 97 would set a new record in oakland and in livermore 104. that would be also a new record and 100 today in san jose that would break that record set back in 1980. and mike, you're tracking a backup in the tri-valley. yes. 680 continues to be a tough drive south from the dublin interchange through pleasanton. the disabled vehicle and a couple of fender benders. one is still blocking the fast lane around sunol. so the sunol exit. so watch for that. drive south into the tri valley. 84th may see more traffic building as folks do see that they're going to avoid the dublin interchange. 880 is an option for folks from castro valley. they can head to the west, and it's not so bad

we've had unhealthy air quality, especially for parts of the east bay into the santa clara valley. so it is another spare the air alert day, and if you know early enough, maybe you can call someone in carpool or catch public transit. that really helps out. we're going to see temperatures today still over 100 degrees for the north bay. ukiah today, 104 102 in napa, martinez 104 degrees. now all of the bright colors here show a major to extreme heat risk. that's how prolonged exposure may impact your body and your health. and so that's going to be a major heat risk for us for today. with temperatures up to 106 in livermore and dublin, 107 in los gatos. and we're still in the 90s in san francisco. tomorrow we start to see some of those coastal temperatures coming down. just a bit, but still pretty warm, with a high of 85 in san francisco, 89 in oakland. and then we're still in the upper 90s and over 100 degrees for the inland east bay to the tri valley as well as the south county. then taking it into friday a little bit more progress. it's going to be slow to happen, but eventually it

as you would head into the santa clara valley and a couple of 80s, where it will be just a few weeks ago. the ten-day outlook temperature, where here is what we're seeing with temperatures warmer than average, and a drop on sunday. and then we run seven consecutive days with temperatures on monday and friday of next week, which will take us into the first day of november. and this is still lower than the 50-50 chance, but sunday into sunday night will increase that confidence with some moisture headed in our direction and it will be much more than a trace. but at this point in that year, where we have not had anything measure to report, we'll take with a we could get. and temperatures will remain warm with that drop that will kick in for the second half of the weekend. the chance for showers will be with us. seeing showers possible, kind of couching or phrasing a little bit there to be on the safe side. the temperatures will stay in the lower 70s on the warm side of things for monday, wednesday of next week. inland spots, the upper 60s and the lower 70s that will feel like temperatur

we should be making it down into the 60s and the 50s by early tomorrow morning, 60s in the santa clara valley and east of the oakland hills, the 50s are confined to coastal parts of the inland area. that is close to where we are supposed to be this time of the year. the temperatures will be warm overnight. we will talk about that in a moment. the big story, once again, the heat, for the north bay, not an onshore breeze but influence. trying to knock the temperatures down. not as hot as today but still in the middle to upper 90s. temperatures in san francisco, oakland, middle 80s. onshore influence. not climbing over the hills, east of the oakland hills, above 100 degrees, middle 90s, fremont, san jose, climbing, that will be good enough for a record high temperature in san jose. 103 in los gatos and morgan hill. the extreme heat continues even if it is not if it were today. the heat risk, the threat, this map shows the variation and condition that we will have across the bay area tomorrow. all of the purple shaded spots, indicating where the heat risk is in the high category. overlaps with th

visibility unlimited over the santa clara valley at this hour. seen all the way to the santa cruz mountains, where we have air temperatures there now, already near 70 degrees. in fac, check out half moon bay. this is an offshore push right now, but it's warmer at the coast than it is in livermore, where the winds have been blustery this morning, a strong offshore push. right now we have a 14 mile per hour wind in mountain view. half moon bay has gusts over 20mph. same in the fairfield area. these winds are lowering our relative humidity so it encourages that fire danger here in the bay area. it certainly does elevate it and it will continue to do so throughout the afternoon hours until the relative humidity goes back up and the winds die down. now it looks like for the most part, it will continue to be a breezy afternoon with those offshore winds until about 9:00 this evening. but meanwhile, rohnert park, 81 degrees today. 80, in orinda. how about high 70s in sunnyvale? and again, look at the sea shore. half moon bay already surpassed their forec

so the showers will be falling apart as they climb oh the oakland hills into the santa clara valley as well. not much more of a trace of rainfall for interior portions of the east bay and in the valley. the showers are gone as the sun will come up tomorrow. most of the day with dry conditions. you'll see a mix of clouds and sunshine with the next chance for rain holding off until late on friday. so we'll get through most of the day with just a gradual increase of cloud cover on friday. rain showers beginning to move in before the sun will go down on friday. a tiny bit earlier in terms of the arrival of the first rain showers. these will be more impressive, dropping more precipitation on the bay area. you can see the intensity of the simulated radar. and bringing them together to a greater extent as they move deeper into the inland parts of the bay area. the best rain chans across friday evening, into friday night had. but the model will get rid of the rain as the sun will come up on saturday. that might be early, but still something that we're going to continue to evaluate as we head t
