again, we've been up in the santa cruz mountains this entire week. we know about the mudslide between sugar loaf and vine hill road. tuesday afternoon, cal tran has been trying to fix. we're trying to figure out if that mudslide is related to that or it's completely new mudslide. just driving through to santa cruz mountains this week we've seen smaller mudslides all over. and i mean all over. when we were on bear creek road we drove for 20 minutes the other day and there are several, at least a dozen mudslides, instans where you had the boulders coming out. the ground is saturated up here, it's very wet and unfortunately it's conducive to this type of thing happening. but as you can see, we're in the back up, trying to get to summit road which is shut down right now in the southbound direction, and as i mentioned, granite creek road shut down in the northbound direction. so, getting over the summit in the santa cruz mountains via highway 17 is not happening right now. so, if you have any plans to get to santa cruz this afternoon, you might want to be

heavy rains backing into the santa cruz mountains. ben lomond, boulder cream, when the heaviest rain arrives during the afternoon hours, that's when we are anticipating flooding on top of current heavy rain. the highlands very wet, san mateo bridge also a nasty morning commute. just got a report out of sfo, two-hour 46-minute delays on some arriving flights. city of san francisco, definitely wet this morning from chinatown back through the mission district. now, when you see the areas of red that encompasses for the most part sonoma and napa counties. that's where we have a flood warning in effect, with flooding occurring. yellow is flash flood watch. as you step out the door, there will be ponding on the roads. there will be some ponding on the sidewalks and downed trees. rock and mudslides very strong possibilities. this is the scene again looking towards the golden gate bridge where you can pick up the sheets of rain very showery in nature but being driven by wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour. it's balmy out the door into the 50s

there's a flash flood warning for central santa cruz county. the san lorenzo river at felton, they are encouraging people to move to higher ground. we do have that red highlighted area which is a flash flood warning for central sonoma county. these are the same problematic areas where we experienced flooding last month. windsor and the town of creighton and the entire community, flooding is occurring at this particular time. we had cloud cover and rain with temperatures holding the 50s and scattered showers. the complete forecast is moments away, but right now let's look at the morning commute. >>> looking out the roads, there is a chp traffic alert. this is southbound highway 17 closed at highway nine because of boulder and debris. there was a rockslide along highway 17 and the crews are working on getting that debris cleared out. that was one of the hardest hit areas in the latest storm. of course we are talking about the santa cruz mountains in the area could see more tomorrow. joe vazquez shows us more of the damaged. >>> -- the damage. >>

they are banging up against the santa cruz mountains. that act like a shield not allowing the rain to move into the santa clara valley. but nonetheless, this is where you have the moderate to heavy rainfall in emeryville, oakland, piedmont and alameda. also your north bay anywhere from petaluma through novato into marinwood, hercules with moderate to heavy rainfall. and we also have some heavy rainfall in the city of san francisco around the western addition back through the bayview district any way you look at it this morning it's a sloppy morning commute. this is live data. there is more fueling in off the ocean in a southerly flow. satellite-radar suggests at this particular time we do have the circulation of the area of low pressure to the south of us still. southern california to six inches in their wettest locations. we are going to easily see two to three inches in our mountains. winds are not so much a factor right now but as of 6:00 this morning we are expecting winds to ramp up and for the blue highlighted area which encompasses

hung up over the south bay hilltops and santa cruz mountains. that will be the area we think that sees the highest rain totals out of the storm. you could see these areas picking up maybe 4 to 6 inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains, as we isolate that for you in the north bay. you see the highest risk for flooding, northern sonoma county and especially once again through the santa cruz mountains. so, tuesday, things try to dry out. wednesday, we see cooler, scattered showers rolling on in, as this storm will have a loc long-lasting impact starting sunday night. it will carry us through monday evening. and then the middle part of the week, we begin to catch a break. we'll still see showers at times, but that will be relatively cool air coming on in. so the main flooding risks should start to decrease by tuesday morning, but what sets the storm apart, as you saw in that hour-by-hour forecast, that could be looking at 12 to 18 hours of steady rain in the santa cruz mountains. >> wow. >> thank you. >>> still to come, running a marathon every w
