it's santa cruz county's.ighway 17 at santa cruz county now 75% contained after briefly threatening three homes, their crews up in marin county, they fully contained a brush fire that was on lucas valley road in san rafael. that too, threatened homes. and in the east bay contra costa county flames from a home fire in alamo spread and created a brushfire drivers actually on interstate 6 80 could see that smoke. from that fire in alamo. it started shortly after three o'clock yesterday afternoon near stone valley. road crews fought the flames on both the ground and you see here in the air and managed to get the brush fire. under control. however the fire did cause major damage to that three story home where that fire got started. well, the maker of a patio umbrella with built in solar panel and led lights has announced it is recalling about 400,000 of those products, the company says the recall comes in response reports that the lithium iron batteries could possibly overheat. and then catch fire. the umbrellas ar

the santa cruz mountains blocking some of the rain from making its way into the santa clara valley. to 8 degrees. only upper 50s along the coast. upper 60s and low 70s with mid- to upper 70s in the shadow of the santa cruz mountains in santa clara valley. 78 degrees around morgan hill. temperatures should reach the upper 70s in the shadow of mount diablo as well. farther inland in the east bay the warm spots but still below 80 degrees. temperature in san francisco struggles up to around 60 degrees. mid-60s for oakland in the east bay with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s for most of the north bay. spots along the coast struggle to near 60 degrees. maybe up to the mid-70s for napa. same thing farther north in northern sonoma and napa county as well. temperatures very similar saturday and sunday. not much change day to day as we head through the weekend. the one change will be that chance of rain shower saturday night into sunday. again, in san jose, don't get your hopes up in the way of measurable rain. a few sprinkles enough to wet down the roads a little while. once that s

. >>> santa cruz county is reporting a case of double monkeypox. the person is isolating, but in good condition. they are waiting for the cdc to confirm the test results. the cdc says that risk from the violent virus is low and doesn't read easily without contact. probable and confirmed cases have been reported in alameda, san francisco and santa clara counties. there have been dozens of cases of monkeypox nationwide but there are three states specifically that are seeing a surge in these monkeypox cases. take a look here in california. we have 80 reported cases as of right now. in illinois and the midwest, 46 cases and on the east coast, 72. as more cases are reported. the u.s. will be immediately distributing 300,000 doses of a vaccine. in 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, the cdc approved a vaccine for monkeypox, until now, those who had been exposed to get vaccinated. but soon it will be more widely available. this fall, there will be 1.6 million doses. the u.s. department of health and human services will prioritize where those vaccines w

and a new wildfire is now burning in the santa cruz mountains the rock fire is burning in an oak and pine forest near highway 17 and hutchinson road. that fire is holding off at just one acre so far and it's about 50% contained those restructures were threatened when the fire was first reported the good news no evacuation orders or warnings have been issued. so right away, let's get to abc 7 news weather anchor spencer christian watching those conditions very closely. yeah, dan, you know, it's still very warm over in the inland east bay where the fire and elmo is burning the wind there is light of the relative humidity dangerously low as for the santa cruz of fire, so which are there is in the 70s right now. it's not very warm there relative humidity just under 50% so it's dry but not dangerously dry. the wind is light. so the prospect for containing and even putting that fire out is pretty good because the weather conditions are fairly favorable. that's all we have at the moment and i'll continue trying to get more updated information for you on that fire dion. alright, i know you'l
