the chp in santa rosa has made an arrest in a deadly hit and run. earlier this week. officers say 35 year old alyssa whitten was taken into custody yesterday outside her santa rosa home. investigators say whitten was driving a buick enclave at the time of the crash. it happened last sunday on river road and it left an 18 year old pedestrian dead. the suspect was booked into the sonoma county jail for felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter, well, to address increased driving risks this holiday weekend, the chp will be holding a maximum enforcement period, encouraging drivers to slow down and not to drink and drive. this means that every available state trooper will be on patrol. chp is teaming up with agencies in nevada and arizona. they're calling this a tri state enforcement. during last year's labor day weekend, 52 people were killed in crashes across california. with more than 900 dui arrests recorded. we spoke with chp on the seven earlier this week and heard that around the clock celebrations have a huge impact on driving risks. yes. and that's why really

we see the rain from santa rosa up toward ukiah and clear lake. this is 8:00 this evening. then it may quickly move across the rest of the bay area between 1:00 to 3:00 in the morning, but by the time you wake up and head out tomorrow, most likely that rain is going to be out of here. for most of us, it's just enough to leave a few sprinkles on the car and it just looks a little damp outside. and for san francisco, oakland, maybe a few hundredths of an inch of rain, but something more measurable from santa rosa to ukiah, with a tenth to maybe a quarter inch of rainfall. as we take a look at temperatures, mild today. throughout the day we'll see a mix of sun and clouds. temperatures in the mid to upper 70s, reaching into the upper 70s from walnut creek, while vallejo will see a high of 70. and 75 in hayward and fremont, and near the coast in the mid-60s, with san francisco's temperatures in the upper 60s. for the north bay, sonoma, santa rosa reaching into the low 70s. so really nice and mild out there. along the coast we're watching out for a high surf advisory that continu

santa rosa. a little bit there, napa, sonoma, maybe marin here, olema the coastal hills. so amounts really haven't changed from a long time ago where we weren't expecting much and we'll continue to see less than a 10th of an inch in santa rosa, maybe a couple of hundredths from novato, san francisco, half moon bay. so right here along the coast where we get that up sloping and we just get the moisture wrung out due to the terrain, that's where you're going to see some of the rain. but as we look at our highs for the next several days, they're certainly cooler and breezy as we get into your monday. a lot of 70s in these southerly winds not only kicking up today, but tomorrow. we'll see the breezy conditions as the cloudy skies behind the system. on tuesday, we're back to sunshine in numbers will warm up through some of the lower 80s in our inland valleys and mid 70s around the day. so really a nice looking day on tuesday, getting into the final days of september and we'll see those mid 80s for our

santa rosa down 82. today drop a ten redwood city down to 72 and san jose was warm too hot to 88 down to 74. a pretty good breeze out there. there have been gusts 25, 30 miles an hour. that will continue. it's more of a west southwest wind. even in the upper atmosphere that will get rid of a lot of that smoke that we had for the last couple of days, 5060s on the temps, 59 south lake tahoe and truckee 60s in the valley, mainly, and then even big monsoon activity yesterday, arizona into southern nevada, parts of the california desert. this low is going to hang around. so the key is it's not just going over land. it's going a little bit over water. and so it means it taps into more moisture. it's going to be right off the bay area into about sunday before it finally kicks out. so it's not going anywhere anytime soon. now, this is just one forecast model, but livermore showing a 0.28. so i would not be surprised. santa rosa oh point oh nine fairfield .07 this would be drizzle, this would not so we'll see. it
