one about to move into santa rosa. some making their way into the mountains of northern napa county. it's lighter shower activity in marin county and san pablo bay. there's more showers falling right now in the santa cruz mountains. some trying to make its way into the santa clara valley. most of it getting squeezed out over the higher terrain. as we put everything in motion, you can see the bulk of heavier rain to the east and southeast. there will be off and on shower activity at every point during the weekend. even as the rain chances continue to diminish throughout the rest of the night, there are still going to be showers dotting the radar at every point overnight. even when the rain chances are at the lowest, they won't be zero. scattered showers to start the day saturday. this hit or miss activity is what we'll see most of the day. inconvenient for outdoor plans. and the showers become more widespread into the afternoon. and this area of rain is what's going to be moving over it will bay area just in time for kic

but notice by 12:00 saturday this system becomes more widespread extending all the way from santa rosa down to morgan hill and san jose and also stretching to the santa cruz mountains as well. now, you notice the darker green colors here. we could get some moderate to heavy downpours at times. we are going to be monitoring the rushing river for quick rises, especially for saturday. by about 8:00, we still see this pretty decent band. if you notice, it will still continue to push down. depending on if this stalls or not, that can boost some of those totals to 2 1/2 to 3 inches. but the north will be one to watch. timing wise for sunday, we will get a scattered activity through about 7:00 a.m. then to sunday evening, we are going to clear up quite nicely. a lovely, sunny day ahead. let's look at some of those rainfall totals expected. is the key right on top there. that orange up there is 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches. but that purpleish reddish color, that is where you're looking at 2 1/2 inches and that is where we could see concerns for those quick, rising streams. wind concerns tomorrow. 20

although santa rosa itself has been calm, not a lot of rain just yet for you. once you head west along the russian river, you'll start to see some showers out that way. bay area fairly quiet so far may be a drop of water, too, but no rainfall just yet. you'll just notice the winds as you're making your crossing under bridges out there. futurecast shows that we're gradually going to see an increase in rainfall from the north that atmospheric river just drops in from our northern reaches of the bay area by today at 10:15am, still fairly dry for most of us. although you are seeing some rainfall really picking up in northern sonoma county at this point, rainfall makes its way further in by the time that we reach 12:45pm today just after noon hour will start to see some lighter showers on the peninsula and pushing it after that rainfall gradually ramps up as we work our way through the course of the day today, saturating roads and soils. by the time we reach your evening commute just after that is when we will see these heavy downpours making their way in heaviest o

so we're here at a park not too far from city hall in santa rosa where we have a good view of the santa rosa creek which will give us a sense of what that impact will be early on as the rain starts to come. no rain here yet of course but we're already feeling the winds and there are some serious concerns based on the predictions of rainfall to have flooding on the roadways. as well as the saturation in the soil along with high winds that could lead to some downed trees as well as some potential landslides. as cities like santa rosa prepare to trade in the sunshine for another storm, city crews made sure to take advantage of another beautiful day around the bay area. so public works crews were in northeast santa rosa on tuesday, clearing leaves and debris. hoping to prevent storm drains from clogging because of too much buildup in the residential ditch line. >> anytime we have an incident or a storm like this coming in, we take it very seriously. >> reporter: over at the santa rosa fire department, they have staffed up a swift water rescue team to deploy just in case of any emergency. >>
