now it's santander, the huge spanish bank, of all places. it's been on a roll. may not ask for a bailout. get this. jpmorgan just this morning put royal bank of scotland on its buy list. i thought those guys were turning by now. oh, and let's just make it clear that while apple, big international player is certainly beneficiary of this -- it should be, right? it just happens to be stuck in its own maelstrom. and i'm going to spend a ton of time on that if you stay tuned. one of the things i found to be the case over the years is that january sets a trend when it comes to sector gains. we saw domestic stocks rally from the get-go and stumble from january on. this year i think that's reversed. a combination of higher taxes plus the general disarray in washington has driven money toward the exact sectors we fled from last year. the companies that moved so aggressively overseas stopped being dragged down by our sluggish economy. the move is in its infancy. they were left for dead in 2012 and are roaring back to life. i think they will gain steam as the wrangling in

they're all off heavily because of santander. santander is europe's largest lender in the eurozone. stock off 2.3% today. there's 2012 net profit more than halved hurt by big losses in real estate, write-downs and property assets. also key growth spots as latin america down, as well. they're setting aside another 18 billion or 19 billion euros for provisions in 2012. they said they may still sell some more addette az. there's a lot of restructuring going on, as well. the market has been focused in on the fact that they're going to raise their capital, but they're not going to do it with raising equity. they're going to do it by retyping their risk model. so a bit of relief about shareholders about that. they're beginning to shake off the global downturn. they're got a lot of expires challenging with and they're saying this year is going to be a pretty tough year ahead. that's why we stand at the moment. it's all about the corporate news today. back to you. >> ross, thank you for that. it was good to see you in davos. you have to come over here one of these days. >> you should come o
