sapporo first announced back on july 12th. it was shutting down anchor brewing company citing declining sales and other economic factors. a week later, brewery workers offered to try to buy the company the next day. the workers were told that would consider that offer as long as the workers have the necessary money lined up. union representatives from anchor then contacted sapporo request of the relevant financials. but today we were told sapporo has gotten back to the workers who are looking to buy and is refusing to give them access to that financial information claiming that it's now too close to the date when they have to hand over control of their assets. the union is now asking sapporo to delay handing over control the assets for another month until the beginning of september so that the 2 sides can potentially work out some kind of deal to keep the iconic brand alive. response sapporo sent us a statement saying we've made it clear since we announced the closure of the brewery, july 12th that it's s would be turned over
