our sara sidner is live for us in jerusalem. sara, good morning to you. first, what can you tell us about this latest incident? >> well, these incidents happen every now and then. it just so happens, though, it has now happened less than 48 hours since this very fragile cease-fire went into place. so far no escalation between either israel or gaza. but let me give you an update on some numbers here. according to the hamas health ministry, they have told us that it is now 25 people who have been injured. they say one person was killed in a shooting incident with israeli soldiers shooting at palestinians on the gaza side of the border. now when we spoke with the israeli military, their story was that there were several groups of men who came up to the fence area, they tried to get over the fence or under the fence, into israel, and that is when soldiers fired in the air. when they did not stop they started firing at their legs. that's what we're hearing from the israeli military. so far the military has not confirmed whether there are any injured or dead. t

cnn's sara sidner is live along the israel/gaza border. what can you tell us, sara?essed several huge blast air strikes here in gaza city. not just behind us, but sort of all over the place in the city, seeing large plume of smoke coming up from this densely populated area. we do know that so far, there are at least 120 people who have been injured. 13 people have been killed. two of them children and a pregnant woman. but also, nine hamas militants. now, we're expecting to hear from hamas, as you might imagine. the leaders of hamas have gone underground, very hard to find, worried that they are going to be the next target by these israeli air strikes that have been quite targeted and they've been very clear in saying the israeli military, that they did target the military leader of hamas, ahmed al jabari, that they pinpointed his car and then they struck it and killed him and the other person inside of that car. since then, we have seen hundreds of rockets coming over into israel. we, alone on the border this morning saw at least 15 rockets coming in about three kil

cnn's senior international correspondent sara sidner joins us from jerusalem. sara?> reporter: joe, mothers, fathers and children all dealing with the aftermath, whether they have lost homes, been dealing with the trauma of having rockets coming into their homes. but there is a place where they're being healed, a place that's really a zone of peace 4-year-old joseph is listening to an age-old bedtime story but he's not at home safe in his bed. he's in a hospital, a victim of an age-old conflict that has shattered his family life. he and his parents were staying inside this apartment building in southern israel when a rocket from gaza slammed into it. the blast sheered off several of joseph's tiny fingers, badly injured his father and took his mother's life. she was among the first to die on the israel side of the border. she is saying, my mother is not here. she's with god. he knows it will be a hard time, his grandmother says. hard is putting it mildly. he has just been through a second surgery. doctors at the sheeba medical center at the hospital reattached four of

sara sidner is live in jerusalem this morning. what else do we know about this, sara?hn, you heard from the health officials there in gaza, saying that there were several people who were injured. we're talking about 25 people injured now. one killed on the gaza/israel border very near to east konounis. the israeli military is giving a different story, saying several groups of men were trying to come over to the israeli side of the border through the fence. they were fired -- the military used a gun, fired in the air toward them and then when they did not comply started firing toward their legs. the military not yet confirming whether there is a death or injuries. very two different stories this morning from gaza and from israel. it comes athe a very difficult time, when a cease fire has been in place but not for 48 hours yet. it was a frangile cease fire to begin with. the only thing we're noticing now, we're not hearing anything from either government, hamas or israeli government. and woef not seen an escalation so far. no ror rockckets have come over air strikes in r
