sara murray is also in detroit and has breaking news on this front. sources are telling you about trump's plans for the general election should he met the nomination? >> reporter: that's right, jake. like you said donald trump makes a big tedeal on the campaign trl that he is self-funding his campaign. but a source tells me that in private conversations, donald trump and his campaign are acknowledging that they will be fund-raising for the general election. this is a reflection of their belief that they know they cannot run a shoe string campaign in a general election up against someone like hillary clinton, that they know not just donald trump but also the republican party needs to be well funded for a fight like that. right now donald trump operates with just a handful of aides and sort of hopscotches them across the country. going forward if he does win the nomination, he would work with the rnc, tap into their data operation, their ground troops and all of this is very expensive. now, as you might imagine, the trump campaign was not super excited

i want to go over to sara murray. you have new information? what where you learning?s right. arizona was a very big state for donald trump, but as we move to utah this is tougher territory and political experts tell me that trump's brand of politics does not play well in utah. when i spoke to the head of the utah republican party he was cautious about making predictions, but he felt like he gave the edge to ted cruz going into tonight. he said i think utahans are sensitive to a person's style and modesty goes a long way mere. this is a guy who was heckled when he visited one of trump's events last week and when donald trump was speaking about this a couple of days ago he said utah is a state he feels fine about. he's not expecting to win there. so the best they can hope going into utah is keeping ted cruz under that 50% number and getting themselves over that 15% threshold so they can pick up some delegates. >> if he keeps him under the threshold he won't gel auto the delegates. >> as we look at the results come in, does it give me more clarity on the whole never trum

let's to go to sara murray with look ahead at the meeting. >> reporter: good morning.re going to be meeting with donald trump behind closed doors. what we're hearing is it is mainly rank and file members. a hand full of them who have endorsed him. tom cotton is interesting. when you look at the list of people we know who are coming and ones not coming, it gives you a sense of the division right now within the gop. we are not going to see leaders of the house or of the senate. paul ryan will not be there. mitch mcconnell won't be there, and donald trump is not stopping by to meet with the rnc while he's in town. he's the front runner. he's leading in the delegate fight in the we're not seeing the leaders of the party or congress here to meet with donald trump. i think he is going to come to washington. he's going to try to use this as sort of a sign that he is coalescing the party behind him and he's maybe more presidential than he's appeared on the campaign trail. i think he'll do that in the meeting and also in the press conference he's having after. at the end of the
