but sara nelson was involved in the negotiations around earlier relief bills to try and figure out ways so that we're not in this pickle all the time, sara. every few months we're not sitting here about it's too much money. you were trying to come up with a durable solution. and your complaint here is by the president working around this, he's done a permanent work-around here. >> absolutely. in march what we did in aviation and we hoped would be a model for every other industry and for our government is to turn these relief packages on their head and actually build them from the ground up so the aviation relief package is a payroll support program that requires the money from the government to go directlyt to people's paycheck. it requires the airlines to keep people employed, connected to their health care, and that money can only be spent on that payroll and benefits. and that keeps people connected to their jobs. it allows us to start up again and it is durable and it is successful during a crisis. >> you gave an example of a flight attendant who couldn't work because c -- or was wo

is it good news for the airlines i just talked with sara nelson who is the president of the associationight attenda s attendants they will take the biggest hit when the job cuts come on october 1st. and they're not terribly crazy about the idea of the trump administration using an executive order in order to prevent airline layoffs. why not? because the idea is that perhaps the executive order would be requiring treasury to make some amount of money, say $25 billion available to the airlines to borrow in order to pay employees and keep them on the payroll well, that's not a terribly appealing idea here. what the flight attendants would like and many of the airline unions would like is a clean cares act extension. an all new one that would prevent any cutoffs in jobs until the end of march so that's why you're not seeing much of a reaction here from the airline stocks the democrats, the republicans and the white house, they all agree they want to do something to help the flight attendants, the pilots, everybody. the question is can they do it in the cares act which would require a stimul
