sarah eisen is here with what the bond market is telling us. what is it saying, janet -- janet, i've already promoted you to become the second head of the reserve. sarah, what is it saying. first they were saying stay away from bonds. >> we were all worried about higher mortgage rates and car loans, just the opposite happened. people piled into bonds and so the yields -- the interest rates actually came down. a few reasons behind it. number one, when everybody is on one side of the trade, it's bound to snap and surprise people. that's partially what happened. other thing is, the global economy didn't get off to a good start. emerging markets became a huge concern. i did a number of pieces for this program how investors were selling currencies and worried about economies, so you go to the safety of u.s. treasuries. a third reason is it hasn't been a straight shot up for the u.s. economy in 2014. we had two disappointing jobs numbers, some of the economic data hasn't been a vibrant picture and therefore, you've seen this demand for bonds. a global

sarah eisen with us on the move in interest rates. and mike santelli as well. what are you watching on the move? >> overall, you're seeing some movement here to the session highs with the dow, the s&p, and the nasdaq. if you look at sectors gaining overall, it's been interesting because if you loon at the constituents of the s&p 500 it's interesting that the sectorwise you're seeing materials, some of the energy names, that kind of thing doing pretty well. also if you look at some of the other names more cyclical oriented, they're moving to the upside as well. if you look at the broader based rally here, scott, there are some technical levels some traders have been watching. they look for patterns. the patterns have been satisfied for the short term. it may explain one of the reasons why you're seeing a strong move on what's been viewed as pretty much an in-line testimony from janet yellen. fed chairman janet yellen on this particular day, scott. >> sarsarah, you have bond yiel moving high and preceding the fed chairman as being a touch more hawkish and the sto
