and reporters at the berlin film festival my colleague sarah hartman and david levitz were down on the red carpet is what they have to say. well right outside of the world premiere of wes anderson's new movie the isle of dogs this is a really fun movie and the red carpet has been really fun as well there was even some drumming sara yeah that's right they had this movie is set in japan so for the red carpet premiere they brought out some traditional japanese drummers and as the director and the voicing cast arrived wes anderson and bill murray jumped up on these drawings and just gave a little impromptu concert it was so cool we tried to get video of it for you but it just it all happened too fast but that's the kind of thing that happens on the regular girl an hour and the crowd out here just went crazy for there's a lot of berliners out tonight hoping to get autographs hoping to get a glimpse of their favorite stars who we have i mean are there a lot of stars so people getting autographs from tilda swinton she's also one of the voices in this movie. django ranson jeff gold bloom very

european cinema are in the spotlight as berlin star studded annual film festival gets into full swing sarah hartman and melanie has been taking in the day's big films for us and she joins me now from the red carpet so we've had the first german competition entry. yeah that's right the first german competition andrea is called trans and it comes from director chris john had sold and it's based on a novel that was written in one thousand nine hundred forty four about a group of refugees who were fleeing the nazi occupation all right so the nazis are just outside paris and a young man desperate to free the country assumes the identity of a dead writer he takes his papers he goes to say and then when he meets a mysterious woman his well that's turned upside down and the film has a twist because this film is not set in historic marsay of the forty's but in modern day mars say the past in the present mix it's hard to tell what's reality and what's a ghost from the past it's really powerful filmmaking we have to say christiane president is playing to a home audience here this is his fourth film at the ber

and my colleagues sarah hartman and david levitz are down at the red carpet they have been tracking all of the action there for us so opening night guys how did it go. it went really well we're expecting actually the stars and the fans to be coming out into the snow and the time now this was a really go amorous opening really surprising actually for an animation film but wes anderson he pulled it off he got together a great cast yet some of them came onto the red carpet we saw greg airwave in this amazing gold dress we sell tilda swinton earlier in the press conference he was making a fool of himself as a result and everyone was eating it out use putting drums on the red carpet together with wes anderson. and you guys saw the film how was it. really interesting films there i don't know if you're a wes anderson fan you know fans will know his work moonrise kingdom the royal tenenbaums life aquatic he has a very distinctive style and this film is very much a wes anderson style film it's super cute there's a lot of focus on the artistry and the imagery. for q yeah this time it's a little d
