sarah murray is tracking all of this. she joins me live from washington. hi, sarah. >> reporter: good morning, carol. so much to chew on this morning. i want to go back to that flag tweet for one second because it is worth noting that other politicians in the past have proposed banning flag burning. in fact, hillary clinton when she was in the senate actually did back a law that would have done this, but these efforts for the most part don't really go anywhere, in part because the constitution under the first amendment does protect people's right to burn the flag. that is what the supreme court decided even if people disagree with that notion and we've even seen members of congress coming out this morning and saying the supreme court's probably right on that one, even if you personally find the notion of burning the flag abhorrent. like you pointed out, this is the kind of thing that donald trump does that over shadows the news that he and his team were really hoping to drive this morning, and that's donald trump continuing to build out his cabinet and cont

sarah murray at the trump rally in hershey pennsylvania. you have been talking to your sources tonight. trump trying to close the deal. what do you expect moments from now when when he takes the stage? >> reporter: erin i think his biggest goal is not commit unforced errors. to try to stick to the the script and paint hirllary clintn as a crooked politician and most importantly to try to move the states like pennsylvania that just a couple of weeks ago appeared completely out of his reach but where we are now seeing polls begin the tighten. it's interesting erin because i've talked to probably republicans across different battleground states and they are still convinced despite the polls tightening that donald trump is not going to be successful on november 8th. even though has momentum and we're seeing polls close in places like pennsylvania and get a little closer. but, but even as they say, they say look this is a candidate who has defied all of our expectations to this point. and everyone is kind of holding their breath to see if he can

let's go to sara murray, who's with the trump campaign, just a few blocks away in manhattan. sarahp campaign, while who knows haas going to happen, they've got to feel pretty good. they're really turning some of these states into a very competitive battlegrounds. >> reporter: they do feel very good about that, jake. and particularly when you look at florida, on how tight the race is there, they're pleased to see that. but this is not a campaign that's out there popping champagne or rejoicing about the numbers they're seeing. they expected florida to be very tight and very nerve-racking. and they are very aware of the fact that if they cannot pull out a victory in florida, then basically donald trump's chances of reaching 270 pretty much evaporate. and that's why when i was checking in one trump staffer about how they're feeling so far, this person just told me, simply, scared. >> all right, sara murray at trump campaign headquarters, let's go to wolf blitzer. >> it's a lot closer than so many people thought in these key battleground states. this is going to take a while. >> it is g
