a bad car crash in the outer sunset park on for sarah stinson just arrived on scene. joins us now live with the sarah, what's going on? >> yeah, serious crash here in sunset. we are here at sunset boulevard and santiago street where both directions are closed. this crash happened just before 4 o'clock. can see just how serious it was by taking a look at the damage. i mean, the car here, the sedan. it has heavy damage so much so crumbled up to all the airbags are deployed. there's glass everywhere and fire crews, the first responders. they had to use the jaws of life is intense power tools, too, break into the car and actually get the driver out of the car to get them to the hospital. and in fact, we've learned that driver was taken to a nearby trauma center in serious condition. then we have 2 other trucks involved in this crash. big trucks at that one. looks like some kind of construction truck and the other looks like a box truck. it's being towed right now. and we're told a driver in each of those trucks have been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening inju

kron 4 sarah stinson has the story. >> i spoke with daniel drake's mom on the phone as her daughter fights her life to me says she's calling on her daughter's employer to have more security on site for social workers. i also spoke with a woman who lives at the building where this shooting happened. she couldn't believe what unfolded. >> oh, my god. while shot by the same person. >> christie abrams in shock learning the details of a shooting that happened inside her building at mercy housing that injured 2 people. it happened last thursday morning around 10 at the supportive housing building on bryant street across from the hall of justice. the complex is home to people who are formally unsheltered, according to the san francisco district attorney's office. 49 year-old monique davis punch someone multiple times inside the elevator. prosecutors say davis then grabbed a pistol from her room when down to the lobby and opened fire. a social worker was shot in the face. another person was shot in the arm. police arrested davis about a mile away mercy housing partners with couple community servic

kron 4 sarah stinson has more. >> there are 2 ways the antioch police department is being held accountable. one is criminally, which includes the prosecution of officers involved and the other civilly which involves this agreement between police and the department of justice. i spoke with a civil rights attorney who says there's still a lot more that needs to be done. but it's not like there was a flip ttat was switched and everything's fine. now. >> by the removal of a few bad apples, venison bomb is a bay area attorney who has handled cases involving police misconduct for decades. his law firm currently represents. 24 plaintiffs suing the antioch police department to them some of the racial discrimination, excessive force, some of this misconduct was spelled out in a series of text messages sent by officers in 2020 2021, those messages came to light last year, including admissions of the program decides that misconduct bike field will kick in. the person said in total, the contra costa county district attorneys office identified 17 officers who are being investigated. the department of j

i'm sara stinson reporting back to. >> sarah, thank you. the man convicted of kidnapping and assaulting denise huskins in the so-called delay. hogan girl case is facing new charges in another bay area kidnapping. matthew mueller was charged today with a 2015 kidnapping in contra costa county last week. he was charged with a series of 2009 home invasions in santa clara county. prosecutors say these new charges stem from recent confessions he made in prison letters. mueller is serving a 40 year sentence for kidnapping and huskins as documented in the netflix series american nightmare. hoskins is set to appear in monterey county tomorrow at seaside city hall to talk about the new charges. again, smaller. >> the usually quiet city of alameda now dealing with a series of break-ins and robberies. kron four's. lindsey ford has more. >> i'm standing in the marina village parkway plaza in front of the 3.60, gore mabry toes, which was vandalized and burglarized last week. additionally in the same plaza, a lucky california was also looted. >> growing.

stinson reporting in the newsroom. back to. >> all right. thanks a lot, sarah will tonight the oakland police commission discussed loosening the city's police pursuit policies. the policy went into effect in 2014 and has undergone a couple of revisions since then. currently city officers cannot chase suspects for sideshows, reckless driving, burglaries or other property crimes they ever pursue for violent crimes, including murder, kidnapping, carjacking and arson. and if the vehicle reaches more than 50 miles per hour, police actually need to get permission by a watch commander before continuing that pursuit. governor gavin newsom has asked the city to adopt less strict pursue policies. public comment on this situation still ongoing tonight. >> bay area legislator is calling an audit into the bay area toll authority after officials approve toll increases for the next 5 years. the bay area toll authority says the money goes into maintaining all bay area bridges except for the golden gate. officials say the tolls also paying for operations and even to support and

i'm sara stinson reporting back to you. >> all right, sarah, thank you. another shooting happened just 3 blocks away on saturday and this happened around 6.30, in the evening on 5th street. the msc homeless shelter that victim taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. police say they arrested 29 year-old taylor read in connection with the shooting. the circumstances, though, of the shooting remain unclear. >> embattled mateo county sheriff christina corpus is taking legal action against the county. we were supposed to hear from the sheriff today about this complaint, but she canceled her appearance. the complaint was filed last month. it argues corpus is a victim of discrimination, harassment and defamation. corpus is currently accused of racism, homophobia among other things, her lawyer says the investigation into the allegations against her was missing key evidence and done for illegal reasons. >> the typical practices you interview all of your witnesses under oath in the tape recorder. videotape them or both. in this case, only one witness
