let's bring in sarah westwood for the washington examiner. rah, president after president has tried to get a peace deal between the israelis and the palestinians. does this president have a shot? >> well, president trump is approaching this in a completely different way than obama did. obama was concerned with the details of a peace deal between israel and palestine. he was focused on pressuring israel to give up specific actions like settlements. critics said that obama was too harsh on israel. he put all the burden on israel. trump has done a 180. he's not concerned with dictating the terms of the deal. he's not concerned with the nuances of the conflict. he won't even endorse a two-state solution as the u.s.'s priority in terms of a deal with israel and palestine. he just is interested in getting the parties to the table and today he said he wants to act as a facilitator for the talks. >> he had positive comments about how the two peoples work together especially when it comes to security arrangements. listen to this. >> they get along unbe

. >> julie: fox news alert now, back to the russia investigation and sarah westwood rejoins me now, white correspondent for the "washington examiner." i just want to ask you this special counsel appointment, what does this give trump? could this be good for the president? >> it could be good for the president. it puts an end to the endless speculation and unanswered questions about why there was this perception that no one was investigating these russian collusion allegations independently. the house and senate committee probes had become politicized, the fbi investigation under former director comey had come under question, and particularly since comey was removed and revealed that trump had mentioned that michael flynn investigation to him in a conversation he found inappropriate, there was this perception that nobody was looking into the allegations credibly, and the white house could not swear their response there was no there there in their refusal to embrace democratic and republican calls for the independent investigations of the special counsel gives them that opportunity. >> juli

sarah westwood, the senior mike warren, again, what the shakeup talk is about, guys, you know far betterot going to be one person that might go, it might be a whole bunch of people. sean spicer is always on that list. but we see steve bannon and possibly reince priebus and on and on we go. but i always wonder about this stuff is that whether it does the trick. the shakeup certainly of that magnitude would make much of a difference. what do you think? >> well, certainly we've seen cases within the trump administration where a staff shakeup has made a dramatic impact and the most notable is the national security counsel. once hr mcmaster was brought in as president trump's national security adviser, we saw the national security operation and then a lot of ways the foreign policy operation become much more professional. it's the most smoothly run aspect of the trump white house and from syria to north korea, the president's action had been applauded. so we know that when the president is being well served by his staff, that can make a huge difference in how policy outcomes are perceived. th

charles: want to bring in panel, tammy bruce, steve rodgers and sarah westwood. tammy, start with. >> you sure. charles: the name i was trying to spit out was rod rosenstein, it's interesting, some call him rosenstein, rosenstein, 94-6 confirmation. he was appointed some offices early in his career by democratic president barack obama. so the idea he pushed for this really should squash all of the other bipartisan nonsense and should help us move on with the task of getting someone at the fbi that can restore america's confidence and not only the intelligence community but in general? >> yeah, but it won't, because the democrats made it very clear to the country they're not playing what the founders expected them to play. they're not there to do the right thing. judge gorsuch who confirmed unanimously for his federal position, and then he gets filibustered. you're not looking at a reasonable, normal, logical dynamic. i would normally agree, you would everybody to come together, of course we do. you can't be held hostage by the mania on the other side that makes n
