we're joined by professor jeremy siegel joining me joe terranova, jenny harrington, sarat sethi. i referenced what's happening within the market. initially a pop, now not so much the dow is down 100. the nasdaq is higher as we speak. jimmy, you had the lowest inflation read in a couple years. where is your rally? where is the rally >> well, it's not here today i think there's a simple explanation for what's going on in the market. i think the stock market right now is in fear of a recession and really believes the recession will hit you can see that right now i'm looking at the year-to-date returns for the s&p 500 versus the nasdaq versus the dow. the s&p 500 is up 7.5% the nasdaq which, as we know, is heavily populated by the faang stocks, up 17.1%, and the dow flat on the year the faang stocks for the last 15 years, have been the place investors go in slow to no growth environment, the only place to get growth in earnings in a slow or no growth environment. and the market is just screaming right now that it thinks a recession is coming. to me, actually, i think this is a good s

sarat sethi, what do you make of the move of nvidia $750 billion company with 26% jump this morning.t good? good for investors, but seems a little weird. >> yeah. i mean, look, we own the stock and we actually -- >> well, congratulations >> we trimmed it earlier this year, brian. honestly, it is a great company, phenomenal space, ai is the place to be. but valuation is a little stretched. and i think you have gotten similar momentum behind some of these stocks where investors are -- especially traders are looking to see who has the greatest growth and you have to be careful we believe in a diversified portfolio. it could be part of your holdings but there are other areas of the market as well and doesn't mean you need to put all your eggs in one basket here. >> we were talking about this at the commercial break, can we throw up intel as well intel stock is down in the premarket. i'm not knocking intel i am kind of knocking intel. what i'm saying is the nvidia effect doesn't seem to be rolling through. >> no, and this is not one of those effects that every semiconductor will do well t
