supervisor sartor submit thank you. supervisor sherril collins. >> today i'm introducing three pieces of legislation. first i'm introducing legislation to create an entertainment zone on union street. i am extremely excited about the possibility not only of just allowing businesses to have a little bit more flexibility to serve their customers, to serve their community and just frankly have more fun but also to increase the vibrancy of both district two and san francisco throughout this city our restaurants, bars and small businesses are still fighting to recover. and i think it's incredibly important to note that 2024 was perhaps the hardest year for restaurants since 2008. and we need to be doing more to help them thrive. entertainment zones work. we've seen them introduced recently by president mandell and we've seen them transform places like front street and thrive city and now it is union street's turn. >> this legislation builds on the success of our union street festival an annual event that brings thousands of

i'm danny sartor, the district three supervisor having the honor to represent union square in our incredible northeastern neighborhoods. and i'm really proud to support this effort. i see it as the next step in the puzzle, the next piece of the puzzle to bring union square back. and on my way over here today saw many of those pieces in action. you know, we have our ambassadors who are working to keep this neighborhood friendly and safe. we have our sfp ready here with a concentration in the new hospitality zone. we have i was told about the toddler time here in the corner the 200 days of programing that are now in union square bringing people back into this square and giving people more reasons to come here. and i think that is certainly the theme that we've seen in this past weekend. we saw it in winter walk. we saw it on display. when people have a reason to come to union square they love it, they enjoy it. they will come here and that's what this legislation unlocks. you know, we i was researching the legislation and i think it's interesting that it's tied to residents. of course we want

i'm danny sartor. you're district three supervisor. that means i have the absolute honor and privilege of representing chinatown in city hall and also the other incredible neighborhood union square where this parade wound through a few weeks ago and i'm really glad that we're here this morning to reflect on the success of this incredible event this is one of those things that we should never take for granted. it is a truly an only in san francisco event. and you know, i got to i got to say i had family visit my eight year old niece was in the parade with me and her mind was blown and we delivered that same experience for hundreds of thousands of people. and tony, i'm looking at you because it's your first year as a director but no one would know that because you delivered an incredible event i'm already looking forward to next year. i know you're going to do it bigger and better and it is our job all of us up here on stage in the city to make sure that the excitement, the vibrancy, the joy that we felt the other week that we continue t
