for sbirt but all communication. because they have to learn how to talk with patients of different cultures for many different reasons. it may not just be sbirt that they are talking about, but they take these same skills, this open-ended listening and reflective listening, back to their own patient population for other reasons also. and they also incorporate... i know that we were talking about previously the whole issue of families not wanting to accept that there is a mental illness because they feel somehow people may discriminate against them, and some people call it stigma, but it is really a discriminatory practice to not be able to accept the medical condition within the family. so i suspect they need to also learn about those issues. definitely. learning about the whole spectrum improves the health care provider and what they can provide, what assistance they can provide to their patients. and, fran, let's go back and talk about... most of what we have been referring to has to do with alcohol and drug disord

i know that sbirt, we have sbirt that does a great job of screening patients at every sector of the healthcare system for mental health and for addiction treatment. there's also another program that we have, which is the community transformation grants. john, do you want to talk a little bit about that and what they will do? sure, and they were released in may of this year. they are for states and local communities. their primary focus obviously is on prevention, prevention of a variety of activities. one of those activities is around prevention of -sorry- focus on emotional health. within the emotional health category, there are a number of activities that are specifically focused on preventing alcohol use, substance use, and to promote emotional wellness. so will samhsa continue to do programs that will help communities integrate into these new aca framework? yes. as a matter of fact, we provided, as soon as they came out, information to our stakeholders that are representative of states and local communities in order for them to take advantage of those grant programs. and just so that we ha
