so i asked mayor schaff what she is found to be most effective. long-term solutions. first. i think we need to work as a region. homelessness is not just an oakland. >> certainly the growth of it was very 7 for us, especially us long-term oaklanders. but we've seen it throughout california and honestly, in every city across the country and the ultimate solution to homelessness is housing as well as fixing our mental health system. so i was proud to play a role as the chair of the big city mayors of california to really go all in in supporting governor newsom says care courts proposed proposal that i believe is going to live or mental health care to those who we can clearly see need it most. and then, of course, this week, oakland's efforts around housing were rewarded with a very sought after designation as one of only 7 out of 539 cities and counties in california to receive the pro housing designation from the state that not only shows that we have truly been leaning in to doing our fair share of housing, affordable housing and tenant protections. but also we're going to h
