. >> christian schaffer is live in lutherville where a man was shot at the light rail station. >> that man was taken to shock straw a -- trauma. it happened on the platform of the light rail station. right now it's closed. we've seen a couple light rail trains go by. the next stop is the timonium business stop. police are investigating. baltimore county police are trying to find out what went on here when that one man was shot here at the lutherville light rail station. police said they do not have a person in custody. it's not clear whether the suspect was on the light rail getting ready to get on one of the trains or if it happened after getting off or if they were here. those details not clear. we're expecting an update from mta police. one man shot, seriously injured, taken to shock trauma. we'll have more when we get it. live in baltimore county, christian schaffer, abc2 news. >>> notice, again, nothing going on but a lot of cold. watch how the snow comes in. nice dusting of snow in many locations. take you out toward the key bridge. notice a clip, reduced visibilities. check out

christian schaffer has more. >> this is behind the plaza off ridgely road. it's still a pretty active scene. a lot of investigators, police still here. we're told the shooting happened on that platform where the train would normally stop at the light rail station. this time they're not stopping. they're by passing as the investigation continues. investigators have been paying special interest to these dark bags on the ground right now. atz i look, they were taking some photos of those bags earlier. some of the investigators have taken what looks like the brun evidence bags and are getting set to put some of that evidence into those bags to take back for further investigation. did those things that are on the ground, they look like a backpack -- did they belong to the victim? hard to say but that's certainly a piece of the investigation that the police have been taking a very close look at throughout the afternoon. once again, a shooting at the light rail stop at the lutherville light rail stop. one victim taken to shock trauma with what's being described as

as abc2's christian schaffer reports from new orleans, the nfl has embraced flag football as an alternative. >> reporter: the real ravens are in new orleans. they will play at a park not too far from the super dome. >> one, two, three, ravens. >> reporter: game time for the virginia extreme 11 and under team, the boys from leesburg won a tournament back in october which gave them the opportunity to play here in the nfl flag national championships. sense they won the baltimore region, they're wearing ravens purple today. many of them are ravens fans, too. >> if we win, they might win. >> reporter: there are similarity to tackle football. >> we work on plays, routes. >> reporter: right down to the plays they ware on their wrist. >> we have a spread offense so every receiver and the running back run has route. >> reporter: it's in the just for boys. girls can play on the team. they have an entire division for older girls. there's no tackling and that makes the game safer and more appropriate for kids. >> tackling is a skill. do you really want a 6 or 7-year-old running into another 6 or 7-year

christian schaffer talked with him. >> reporter: much of the lower ninth ward hasn't started to come back, but slowly recovery is happening. we found volunteers working with the st. bernard project inside every room of this home, including marty shield, a retired federal employee who lives in prince george's county. >> i get to see physical things done. >> reporter: she made her first trip to new orleans to volunteer one year after katrina and she's been coming back ever since. >> there's still lots to do. i don't think we'll get anything done if we don't start doing it. >> reporter: the work on dozens of houses is closely monitored. >> they did drywall. >> reporter: they finish about 100 homes every year. the head of the organization said more than seven years after the storm, the need for volunteers has not dismissed. >> we think there's lack of knowledge. >> reporter: and there is more to do. the st. bernard project has more than 133 clients on its waiting lists and though get 1 new requests every week. the only way to meet the need is to bring in volunteers. >> we need people to

a brionna schaffer says that's why this is costing union jobs. when you see the numbers and you see states making gains, you step back and say, someone has to realize the math here. what do you read out of it? >> i think we associate manufacturing with unions. over the last number of years manufacturing has been moving away from hiring union workers and it's not a surprise why. the fact is they do negotiate higher time, their workers but that comes with a cost to the whole economy, making it less dynamic, less easy for businesses to hire more workers and at a time when we have 8% unemployment, that's not something that a lot of businesses can afford. >> now, a lot of those same union leaders say, you get what you pay for, and there are offering cut raitt salaries to workers who might appreciate the jobs, but in the end, aren't going to be very happy in those jobs. what do you think? >> i think overall people are gibbing to see that unions are out to help union worker but very often at the expense of nonunion works and that's where we're getting i
