schiff: they are. they're going to try to delay things and the going to blame democrats for how long investigation is taking. that's the strategy they use with bob mueller, and look, it was at least partially successful. they played rope-a-dope with more for months and months of what the president would sit down for an interview and ultimately mueller did what they hope to do which is hrough up his hands and say, it would simply take too long to prosecute this subpoena in court, and i don't want to stick around another year on the investigation to do it, so going to conclude that we don't need it. look, i think it was a mistake not to pursue a subpoena with the president, both because when trying to speak on the part of mueller. yes. and i said so at the time, if you're trying to divide the presidents intent is that the key element in abstract of justice case, and it is, there's a better source than the president himself. there's no better evidence than that. and so it was successful, that delay tactic

schiff:. who are trying to get the documents behind the robert mueller report in those materials are more important than the reductions in the report because they go to what witnesses said the details of the investigative tactics that were used in the interest we counterin the intelligence and foreign intelligence information because the investigation not as a criminal probe but it counterintelligence probe into whether people around trump and the -- and trump himself were acting as witting or unwitting agents as a foreign power. we said, here are 12 sets of documents that we want. they are identified in the report. none of these are arguably privilege and they all include counterintelligence. start providing these are we will go to enforcement action. this was a test of whether they were acting in good faith or without any faith. close to midnight last night, they finally agreed we will provide the doctrine as the initial set of what we hope will be a rolling production. that is a positive st

our first guest tonight, house intelligence committee chairman adam schiff. he issued, quote, a subpoena to attorney general pete barr for documents and materials related to special counsel robert mueller's investigation, including all counter-intelligence and foreign intelligence materials produced during the special counsel's investigation. the full unredacted report and the underlying evidence. the showdown on that such is scheduled for one week from today. wednesday, may 15 is the deadline and congressman schiff to alternate general william barr. after they voted along party lines in 2016 to hold william barr in contempt of congress, no date was set for when the full house vote on that contempt of congress resolution. we will ask chairman schiff if he expects speaker pelosi to delay the full house vote on contempt of congress until the democrats see what the attorney general's response is to the new intelligence committee subpoena. in a statement announcing that subpoena, chairman schiff described, quote, a good faith effort to reach an accommodation with
