meteorologist bonnie schneider is in. good morning. >> good morning. we are looking at some wet weather for this busy week. a lot of folks getting started with their holiday travels. we do have rain across the mid-south. plenty of heavy downpours working across memphis. we'll be watching for that across much of western tennessee this morning and rain working into indiana to the north and into kentucky, southwest missouri. it's going to be a little stormy out there to get your day started. with all this rain comes flood threat. up to 3 to 5 inches between little rock and memphis. be careful for those driving on i-40, you'll face those downpours. if you're flying today, delays where we don't want them. some of the busiest airports in the country. new york, philadelphia, atlanta, washington, down through the south and out west due to fog in san francisco. we'll talk more about your travel forecast for this busy holiday week in a bit. carol? >> okay. can't say we're looking forward to it after that forecast but who knows. bonnie schneider, many thanks. >>>

let me bring in bonnie schneider.nie, i don't know how you feel about the holiday shopping season. are you one of those who like to be out in the black friday stuff? >> i love discount shopping. i do it year-round. so i'm very into it. i can tell you all the places to shop for discounts. i agree bp 20 get that excited about it and that crazy especially were with the stores open sometimes all night, there's a lot of opportunity for shopping, and there will be plenty nmore. a little bit of travel trouble spots out there today. more so today than the past couple of days. take a look at this radar and you'll see rain and snow working its way into minneapolis. we've seen that yesterday. we're going to see some snow possibly tonight as colder air comes in behind this cold front. to the south we're also looking at heavy rain in kansas and nebraska and winds, too, throughout the plains states. notice the heavy thunderstorms working their way across northeast texas. so, dallas, your temperatures will be falling today behind th

but this, again, as i bring in bonnie schneider. we were bringing in doubt conditions.y record drought there and we're seeing the consequences. >> it's impacting so many industries. not surprised christmas trees are one of them. we are seeing, though, a lot of rain moving through other parts of the country right now. so for those of you on the road and maybe you're heading somewhere to do some shopping or perhaps continue your holiday travel, let me show you with some of the trouble spots are right now. strong thunderstorms rolling into arkansas at this hour. little rock, it's just start to go rain there. expect more of that throughout much of the morning. and to shreveport, louisiana. northward, everything is changing. in chicago, for example, light rain is moving in. but by tomorrow night, you're looking at a chance of light snow showers in the chicago area. it's snowing in northern minnesota, b and that's where we have winter weather advisories. we are looking at wintry conditions in this region. snow and ice, a possible 2 to 4 inches. that's going to be a problem fo

tonight, as we continue our coverage of "enron: ten years later," andrew schneider of houston pbs speaks with former enron employees about the day enron closed its doors. >> reporter: december 3, 2001, was a warm, muggy day in houston. 4,000 enron employees arrived at work to find the air conditioning had been turned off. floor by floor, they were told the company was bankrupt, then given 30 minutes to pack up their belongings and leave the building. houston was already in a recession. enron's collapse made it worse, as richard rathvon explains. >> the energy industry had kind of collapsed here. dynegy collapsed, as well as the energy market itself. a lot of people struggled to find work in their same field. a lot of people needed to make changes. >> reporter: the experience left many former employees with a jaded view, not just of enron itself, but also of enron's basic philosophy-- the belief in the inherent goodness of free markets with minimal regulation. max eberts is one of them. >> you have an industry that was not regulated, and as a result, it was free to run amok. one would hop

andrew schneider reports from our bureau at houston p.b.s. >> its proposed keystone x-l pipeline would be used to transport crude oil 1700 miles from canadaa all-- alberta tar sands to the gulf coast of texas. at peak capacity the pipeline would transport more than 800,000 barrels per day. trans-canada the pipeline's builder, estimates the construction of the pipeline alone would create more than 20,000 manufacturing and construction jobs, and inject $20 billion in new spending into the u.s. economy. supporters contend the steady supply of crude oil would also be a boon to u.s. energy security. environmental groups argue it carries a high risk of water pollution. they note that trans-canada's keystone 1 pipeline has already spilled more than a dozen times. project opponents also say that refining tar sand was generate more air pollution than conventional oil, producing larger volumes of night genocide and sulfur dioxide. if approved by year end the pipeline was expected to go into operation by early 2013. the latest delay could push back that date by at least a year. >> andrew joins us

and bonnie schneider, keeping an eye on things for us.a meteorologist necessarily, bonnie. when you see that map and you see that big storm system in the midsection of the country, you know it's going to cause some problems. >> absolutely it's going to cause some problems. as a meteorologist, i can tell you, the weather will be changing. in fact, some places that are seeing rain right now will see snow later on tonight. and i'm talking about cities we don't really think of as big snow areas like memphis, tennessee, little rock, arkansas. snow showers could pop up in your forecast later on this evening. a big swath of rain, some of it's really heavy, working through the midwest and down through the south, as well. so this is going to be -- really a mess for those of you who are driving. in birmingham, you're getting hit with heavy downpours. we've seen snow flurries pop up already in areas of missouri and arkansas. as we go through the day, that's where we're anticipating some more travel troubles with this powerful storm system that will
