let's get to jessica schneider.ece together what happened in the early hours of this morning at this nightclub here in orlando. what is the latest that you understand about the minute by minute, the time line of what happened in that club? >> yeah, erin, first of all, this club was packed. the club's just behind me about a block away. there were 350 people inside this club. it was saturday night. it was the club's most popular night. it was latin night and what we know about the time line is that at 2:00 in the morning that gunman entered the club and went to the door and the first person he encountered was an off-duty police officer and that officer serving as security. he got past the officer and then went into the club. that's when the shooting began and that's when he began taking hostages. for three tense hours he was moving around the club in two different areas and taking hostages and shooting people. we've actually seen some text messages from people who were frantically texting their loved ones asking for h

you, jodi schneider joining us from tokyo. let's welcome our guest into the conversation, peter fitzgerald, head of assets at aviva investors. i've got a chart on the bloomberg that shows the impact we saw on cpi the last time we saw the japanese increasing their sales tax. of course, it's one way to generate inflation. the lesson is perhaps it doesn't last that long. were you surprised, and is this the right decision by the japanese government? peter: the stimulus the japanese economy needs will be a combination of fiscal and monetary stimulus. by delaying the sales tax, you are delaying the fiscal stimulus. a would not see it as surprise, and in fact, it's probably the beginning of a change or expansion of that policy in japan to move away from just monetary into just fiscal expansion. matt: peter, we do see interest rates at an all-time low, if not negative. isn't that a lot of fiscal stimulus in itself? peter: that is predominantly monetary stimulus, and that has got a certain limitation in terms of what it can achieve. th

. >> live to orlando now and cnn's jessica schneider for us. what is the fbi saying about all this now? >> reporter: don, the fbi is stressing the timeline. store clerk at the gun shop south of where the shooter lived said a man walked in like you said trying to buy that ammunition and trying to buy body armor and talking into the cell phone in a foreign language. the store clerk and the manager reported it to the fbi. the fbi did call back but the problem here is that the store clerk and other people at that gun shop didn't realize that this man appeared to be omar mateen until just after the nightclub shooting at pulse and didn't connect the two. in addition, the store didn't have any surveillance video. they didn't have contact information, identifying information or even any purchase records so they had nothing to give the fbi and that's why the fbi investigation could not move forward on this without any of that supporting information, don. >> interesting. jessica, thank you very much. i appreciate your reporting. we are also learning more
