scott gets ger wrald has a lead. and in district 21, van win guard is facing former state senator, john lehman, the man he beat in order to win the seat in 2010. with 22% of precincts reporting in that senate district. wanggaarb is beading but just 22% in. incumbent republican senator terry moulton, against cristian desk dexter. leading by 16 points. at 58% and his democratic challenger, 42%. and the final republican seat up for recall, no incumbent republican. the incumbent republican senator quit rather than go through the recall. it's now this republican state representative, jerry petrowski and he has a comfortable 20-point plus lead but the marquee race for governor is garnering national attention. at his election headquarters, governor scott walker tonight, very, very happy, obviously, with tonight's results and looking ahead to the day after the election. >> tonight, we tell wisconsin we tell our country, and we tell people all across the globe that voters real will you do wanted leaders who stand up and make

scott walker splits. badly trailing there.to the higher income, governor walker winning convincingly. the incumbent did so well when it was about unions and jobs, he did very well. >> yes, money counts. yes, ground game counts. both paul and gloria are right about that. but so the fundamental ideas. they matter in politics. conservatives have been battling here, arguing that the public employee unions have engaged in excesses that need to be cut back. i was out in wisconsin, spent a couple of days out there a couple of weeks ago. i can tell you a lot of people, small business people in particular were talking about that these unions are costing too much money. it was not about the ads. it was not about the --s after about people deciding they can't afford it. that's been at stake here in this election. it's an important set of controversies going on in many states around the country. and i don't deny that money and ground game matter. but i think that the ideas and what -- and how people feel about what's going on in their liv

and it's not a scott walker 57-43 win. much closer to 51 or 52. >> from both of you, john first, what does this mean? citizens united. what ground game will it take to defeat the millions of dollars floating into elections all over america? >> i think it's really important to recognize that what happened in wisconsin was an experiment in the laboratory of democracy. this experiment, the part of both sides, is going to have us define where we go. the republicans went with big money, massive infusions of money. it's a powerful lesson for every state in this country. when you bring that much money in, you can repurpose a failed governor as a credible candidate. that's what they did with scott walker. for the labor unions and for democrats, there's also a powerful lesson. they, i believe, did not do a lot of education up front about what a recall is. polling shows a lot of people didn't like the idea of doing a recall. they also, i don't think, did enough education on the collective bargaining. >> it's hard to do education whe

governor scott has missed the deadline to do this purge. however, well intended he might have been, that deadline ended on may 16th. and federal law is what i will follow. >> and what about your fellow county election supervisors? are they going to listen to governor scott or to the federal government or to the law? what are they going to do? >> they are also going to follow the law. our general counsel issued a memorandum last friday which really received no national play at all. the memorandum said that we should not conduct the purge. and i have been in contact with supervisors all around the state of florida. it's clear an overwhelming majority of them are simply not going to violate this federal law despite what the governor says. and quite frankly, i don't actually think the governor actually contends -- intends to carry out a purge to be honest with you. i think this is something that he made as a promise to hez tea party banks. he was elected in 2010 and quite frankly, he has sent out notices to the tea party base that there are the

if scott walker wins, i'm going to argue on this one, it's not obama's fault, that scott walker has done what he set out to do by curbing union excesses, by balancing the budget, by not raising taxes and in fact, cutting property taxes for the first time, and it turns out that scott walker was right and the skeptics were wrong, the bureau of labor statistics and the department of labor said they are about 25,000 new jobs in the last 12 months in wisconsin. walker got all that right. so why should he be unseated? >> first, this has nothing to do with president obama. this has everything to do with leadership. someone who is willing to go vote, someone who has guts as a leader to do what is right for the state, to have pro-growth policies where you're not raising taxes, not laying people off, and you're balancing your budget. you can't argue with the results in wisconsin. we went from a $3 billion structural deficit to a surplus, and everyone's still working. we are open for business. and that's why the senator can talk about division, but you've actually seen a union fi indication of wisc
