>> it's a great question, scott. china has very significant global ambitions and they want to be the dominate force in the asia pacific region, of course, and unfortunately i think they're working to diminish u.s. influence in order to advance their own goals in the region. we do monitor very closely what appears to be an effort to expand their influence beyond their own region in places like africa, latin america, the pacific islands, south asia, and we are concerned by some of the tactics they use offering poor countries investments and loans that perhaps those countries are not going to be able to repay. we want those countries to be aware of their own sovereignty and how foreign investment in their infrastructure and their national security infrastructure can ultimately compromise their sovereignty. their global ambitions on the world stage is one of them. >> i want to ask you about the middle east, specifically iran. would you say the iranian regime and their proxies are lemurs in the area. there's a persian his

scott: i think that they are certainly watching the issue. this friday, when we see the employment report, we may see the hourly earnings number north of 3% now. 12 months ago, if we would've seen in print like that i think the market would've panicked. i think the market is prepped for that, but certainly the fed -- if they would react either to this potential for slowing growth, or to anything else really going on in the states with market volatility, i think any hint that they might be a little more dovish or at least less hawkish, i think the market would react positively to that. david: as you know well, we have had a tumultuous couple of weeks in the equity market. but a lot of it seems to have come off of the earnings calls in which people, it is not so much they are missing on the past quarter, it is looking forward and they have concerns. but you do not hear about interest rates, you hear about tariffs and things like that. scott: i think when you are in the later third of the cycle, the market pays attention to things like the fed,
