. >> nbc bay area's scott budman is live in san francisco. tell us about it. >> reporter: well, this is what we know guys. the apple watch will be sort of as promised a watch that wants to do a whole lot more than just tell you the time. you will be able to take phone calls on it. it will have a little speaker and a microphone. it will take all sorts of health care data and it tell you how you're doing. the model christie turlington is inside right now on stage talking about how she was inspired by the apple watch to run marathon. as you can see, a lot of hype surrounding this newest apple device. we don't yet know the price and how it's going to be fitting into your life other than as a watch. that's basically a smaller version of the smartphone you have in your pocket right now. one of the downsides we do know is that it for now needs to be paired with your smartphone. you'll need to have both. so it is already a fairly expenseive proposition. some of the things we can sort of look into the future and see are a whole lot of health care data
