scott budman is there right now. what's that driver telling you? >> reporter: he's telling us a dramatic story. raj, i can tell you the model s behind me is still here in the lot. the fire has been out since 2:00 this afternoon. the driver was not in the car. he brought the car into the lot to get a tire changed, but this is the video they managed to take of the fire on his cell phone. he says as you can imagine, it was frightening watching his car go up in flames. firefighters arrived on the scene quickly. they say they were able to put the flames out, but then had to watch the car for a while because of heat that came from the car's battery. they say they're trained to put out car fires, but electric cars are different. the owner told us he has owned teslas before but has never seen anything like this. >> i go in there to do the paperwork, i start hearing a funny hissing sound. i thought must be something going on in the shop next door. then we come out and there's smoker coming out of the bonnet. we tried to open the door. the guy said, we'll ca
