here is scott budman now with us. scott, you've been following this market for a while now. i'm trying to understand. what's the deal with the prices? what's going on here? why are they still so high? >> they're still high here partly because there is so much money in the system. but also, audrey, there is very little inventory on the market right now. talking about how home sales are down because people aren't putting their homes on the market. which means if you are in the market and you really need to buy a home you have very few choices, and that artificially inflates the prices here in the bay area. but really, it's a problem, because there isn't that much inventory out there. >> so not much inventory. you were talking about the buyers. it seems like buyers aren't really jumping on purchasing a home. are they scared? >> yeah. there are a couple of things at work here. the prices have been gradually coming down, even here in the bay area. but interest rates have gone up. mortgage rates have gone up. which means the purchase price might be a little lower. but when you do
