i'm a fellow at the international security program and today i am joined by scott hartley, author of a new book the fuzzy and the techie, why liberal arts rule the digital world. it's interesting, scott and i have known each other for a little while and when he first approached me about this, immediately thought of my freshman year in college when i was deciding on what i should major in and i loved history and i loved political science, but i quickly thought i want to make sure i get a job coming at a college that doesn't involve academia or writing papers. i decided to meet the professional world halfway and major in business. when i talked to scott about it, it made sense because my career, like many of yours has taken different pivots and turns. i realized that now what i didn't know then is that in many ways liberal arts or even business has the ability to the technology world, even innovation in general. with that, i want to turn it over to scott, before he tells you more about his book, i know scott from our time in new york, he like myself has spent time in the venture capital
