or in two decades coretta scott king would call me and edit the papers of her late husband. or in three decades that i would be asked to join this team roma design right here in san francisco and design the king national memorial. and i would be going back to the mall where i was as a 19 year old as one of the 2 million people who were there for the first inauguration of president barack obama. and just a year later, a couple of years later, going back there to actually see the dedication of that memorial. all of these things would have been inconceivable in 1963. so, when i talk about martin's dream, what i'm really talking about is the expansion of all of our dreams, to include things that we might not imagine. and i guess my hope in doing the work that i do is that a young teenager today would have that same experience i have -- have had, of having the inimaginable -- unimaginable dream come true, things that you can't even imagine happening happen in their lives. i think that's what all of us up here are talking about when we mention martin's dream. one of the other thing

scott tee hawkins o query black leadership council of san francisco. i agree with the two speakers ahead of me. but i didn't come down here for that. i came because of the martin luther king school. i live up the street from that school and was headed here for the press conference which happened to be on his birthday, actual birthday. passed by that school and heard on the loud speaker a female voice coming over the pa system telling the students "we're going to have a march to commemorate martin luther king a birthday. wear your white t shirts. that is going to signify peace and justice" and i thought, well, hey i'm going down to the board of education to a demonstration about tobias, this good worker who put his all into the students at the school and this principal that pit this child down. i couldn't wrap my mind around that. here she is on the loud speaker talking about peace and justice and wearing white t shirts but i'm taking my retirement time because i'm retired to head down to demonstrate against someone like that. it just didn't fit. now, i am wearing this t shirt "stop the killing. start the healing" , a campaign we had in the 80's. it started in the 80's wit
