because until scott lancaster's death in 1991, mountain lions were considered virtually harmless.were thought to be, first of all a wilderness species that could live anywhere near where people lived. they were thought to be largely nocturnal, and it was thought the route over time they would attack the person was if the line was sick or starving or rabbit or if it was a young child, very easy prey. this went against all of that. because you had a healthy 18 year old young man right behind his high school in the middle of the day killed by what turned out to be a perfectly healthy lion. and i believe that what happened to scott lancaster was directly related to what was happening in boulder in those two years immediately prior to his death, that the line that killed them probably have learned not to fear people, had learned that there's food for human habitation, and was primed on that day not to run when it saw a person but to attack. and that was the event that really did change the way while the agencies across the united states view outlines but they're much more likely today

i believe that what happened to scott lancaster was directly related to what happened here in boulderose two years immediately prior to his death. so the lion and killed him probably had learned not to fear people, had learned that there's food around human habitation and was primed on that day not to run when it saw a person but to attack and that was the event that really did change the way that wildlife vestiges view mountain lions. and unfortunately scott lancaster's death, it was the first time in more than a hundred years of an adult had been killed by a mountain lion, except the one person that was killed by a rabid lion in california. scott was the first adult that we know of to be killed and since then, you know, it's still very rare, but once every other year somewhere in the western united enter canada, we have another fatal attack. so people are more cautious. i definitely don't mean to scare people. colorado has far more significant risks and a lot more people die skiing were certainly riding their bikes, there are a lot of terrible things that can happen in colorado. no

scott williams. >>> yeah, that's right lucy and iain. we're looking at ultimate doppler tracking very moderate to heavy rainfall right now around lancaster, moving into chester county. you can see around london grove, get ready around west chester, eventually moving toward odessa as we move into new castle county as well as smyrna. where you see the orange as well as the red indicating that moderate rain. this system is moving very slowly to the east but right now most of the activity has been moving from south to north and you can see it continues to move toward our area. off to the west we have flood advisers for ponding on the roadways, heavy rain over 22 to 3-inches in sections of lancaster county. as we watch the timing, the heavy rain continues to move in. slowly from the west and you can see by 7:00 o'clock pockets of downpours across the area. really continuing through this evening, and that end overnight first thing tomorrow morning at 4:00 a.m. we're looking at downpours, too. much more on this timing coming up. iain and lucy. >> all right, scott, thank you you can track the weather all night on our website myfoxphilly.com. jus

scott. >>> that's right, dawn. right now we're watching a weak cold front moving through the central part of the state. you can see some thunderstorm activity trying to move into lancaster county. over the next hour or so, if this holds together it will be moving into lancaster as well as berks county. so we'll continue to monitor it. but right now it's dry in trenton, philadelphia as well as wilmington. a few sprinkles moving now into sections of the lehigh valley and the poconos. but look at the heavy downpours right now also some lightning around harrisburg. this is what we're watching as we it moves farther to the east. but watch the timing. watch how a lot of activity by 2:00 a.m. still to the west. so most of it will likely dissipate before it moves into philadelphia. however, tomorrow morning, we're looking at the development of some patchy fog. so spotty showers west. mid 50 50s in the suburbs locals in the city. coming up we'll talk about our best chance for rainfall later this week as well as when you'll need to pull out those heavier fall coats with that seven day forecast. dawn and iain. >> all right, thank you, scott. >>> heartbreak in delaware neighborhood
